First thermal

I don’t do a ton of night hunting, but I am looking to get into a thermal scope.
Would like to hear some input on a solid thermal scope with a budget up to about $2500
Thanks

I would say the top contenders are:

Bering Optics Hogster 25
Bering Optics Hogster 35
Pulsar Thermion XM30
AGM Rattler TS35
AGM Rattler TS25

Night Goggles is a PM sponsor and carries the ones in bold. No matter if it is Night Goggles or not, I would highly recommend you speak to a dealer. Tell them how you plan to use it including for what species, the terrain you hunt, the features you need, gun you wish to use, and your budget. If they are a quality dealer, they can help narrow down the choices to the best fit for you.

One other consideration is in my opinion to be successful at calling coyotes at night, you need a thermal scanner. From a budget perspective, just know that you will probably need a thermal scanner and some type of scope for the best chance at success.

Correct and make sure you buy a good one.

You'll spend 98% of your time looking through the scanner while night hunting so get a nice scanner to start with.

On a tight budget, I would probably go Bering Optics 25, but if you have the budget the Phenom 640 or Helion. The other consideration is if you wear glasses hunting, the scope/scanners have a lot more eye relief.

+1 on that advice. Your neck muscles and shoulder blades will thank you for the scanner. When you see the world thru a good scanner it changes everything. The only problem is when you scan thermally you will hate trying to find the target in your Nvision scope. Then you'll sell your first born and buy a thermal scope. And all will be right with the world!

My suggestion for your budget, for what it's worth, cuz I'm poor. I would buy the Hogster 25 or 35. This way you can shoot it as a scope and experience what looking through your rifle all night feels like. Then, continue as a scope on your rifle or use as a scanner with night vision scope until you can obtain a thermal scope as an addition. Best of both worlds, because you do have a scope, until you can have both, then, the 25 or 35 makes a great scanner. Me, personally, can pan a rifle for a long time for 3-4 grand. I shoot the Hogster R35 and love it as a scope. If I ever go 640, say a Yoter, then, I've still got the 35 for a scanner. Hope that makes sense.

AGM makes great scanners and for the money is where I would look on a budjet. My AGM ASP TM 35-384 BLOWS AWAY the Bering Hogster 25 or 35 and rivals my Phenom 640 at a way cheaper price ($2400). The Bering Optics Phenom 640 is nice but around 3k.

Pulsars are solid and the high end Bering is good.

I recently had 2 different friends buy the new Bering Optics Prodigy Pro and they are total GARBAGE!! Stay away from those for sure, they was really really disappointed.
