First time shooting silencers

I've always wanted to put one on my hunting rifle.

But in the state of Ohio, its against the law to hunt with a silencer.

Don't know about others???????

I had always wondered if a silencer would allow multiple long range shots at coyotes without them noticing, but from what I just shot, I don't think that is the case. With subsonic loads and the right conditions (which would include a dumb coyote), I think it might be possible.

They are beneficial enough that I think it will be worth the hassle and cost. One benefit is I could take one .224 caliber silencer and use it on a couple different guns while only having to purchas one stamp and one silencer. I am thinking the 300 Whisper in a bolt gun will be in my future and of course one that will work with 22's and 223's.

You will NOT be able to use a .224 suppressor for the 300 whisper you will need a .308 can in order to do that! That is why alot of people buy one .308 can so they can use it on smaller cal. rifles.

You can too us a .224 can on a 300 whisper. But only once

alot of us have gotten doubles, triples, quads, even quintuples in the same set without suppressors, i've gotten multiple doubles without a can, but the fact of the matter is a suppressor is just that, a "suppressor" it muffles the initial blast, which means less sound will travel, the less sound the better, especially around areas that are hunted hard and their are lots of call/gun shy dogs, everything in the industry is evolving, look at the scopes used now compared to the ones used 20yrs ago, look at the scent blockers, the camo patterns, granted a gun is a gun, a good hunter is a good hunter who knows his wind and capabilities and gets kills regardless, i'm not sayin you need the best or coolest equip to be successful, although it is fun...
