First yote with the 204! *pics*

Well I got a chance to go out hunting yesterday, and finally got a chance to shoot a coyote with my new 204 Ruger, and I was impressed. I was useing a Jackrabbit distress, after calling for about 1 minute, I had a magpie come in, so I watched it for a little bit, and then all of a son, it just flew off, I thought that was kinda wierd, right after that, out of the corner of my eye I see a yote runnig to my right! So I waited and it stopped about 20 feet straight away from me, and looked in my direction. It sat there for a bit looking towards me, thinking she was going to run I slowly raised the rifle, but it spooked her a bit, and she trooted about 75 yards out, and stoped, so I put the cross hairs on her and sqeezed, and I heard a loud WACK! It was abad shot, I get her in the guts /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif DOH! so she started nippin at her side and yelping, so I chambered another round and sqeezed it off, right in the shoulder, and she dropped like a ton of bricks! and wow, there was no fur damage at all! My 223 last year did not preform this well on the yotes I shot last year, so I was impressed with this round. here are the pics.

I was useing Hornady 32gr V-MAX's with 26 grs of H-335.

Thanks! Its a Remington 700 ADL topped off with a cheap Tasco Varmit/Target 2.5-10 X 44 AO. It works OK, I plan on geting a new piece of glass this winter.

How could you have killed this coyote using a cartridge that will not kill coyotes? I have read many times that the 204 Ruger is capable of killing only prarie dogs and rats!
I am positive that these "experts" wouldnt lead us on about the 204's anemic abilities or the wonderfull power of their current favorite. Could you have been using a 220 Swift and mistakenly told us it was a 204 Ruger? Hmmmm

I have read several posts with pictures that show the 204 is very capable of killing coyotes. It will be my next caliber, I'm going between the CZ and Savage. The smaller 17 Remington is a popular coyote gun for pelt hunters. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
 
great job! That coyote almost looks prime. A September yote around here is not worth skinning but that one looks pretty good. How was the pelt quality?
 
way to go rotaxpower! i haven't shot a coyote with my 204 yet, i'll probably take it with me next time callin. the 22-250 has been with me so long it's hard to leave it in the safe. nice pics too.
