Flextone ER1

Just recieved the new E call from Midway USA today i,m very impressed with most of the 100 preloaded sounds cant wait to get out and do some calling with it in the field. So far ive owned the johnny stewart pm4, power dogg from Primos and a foxpro cx3 i think. The ER 1 sold me for the well thought out design and remote docking station,
Just wondering if anyone had any problems or complaints yet?

Lets see some pictures of it. What does the remote look like and how far will it work? How many speakers does it have? Does it have a jack for an external speaker? I can't find any specs on it.

We just got our first shipment of Flextone eR1 ECHO calls late last week and my office called me with a Reader's Digest rundown. Here is the quick synopsis of the call as I currently know it and a couple pictures.

It comes with 100 quality preloaded predator calling and big game calling sounds for under $130 - CLICK HERE to see the eR1 SOUND LIST. Most of the sounds on the call are from the Wildlife Technologies sound library. Actually all of the sounds might be from WT--there are just a handful I don't recognize.

The caller has 2 speakers - the one that you can see and another on the opposite end. You can choose to run just one speaker or for more volume you can run both at the same time. External Speaker? I don't think so--but I will check.

The caller runs on 8 AA batteries. It actually came equipped with 8 NiMH rechargeable batteries that can be charged right in the caller. The caller has a built in charger and it comes with a 110v power cord for recharging. The remote control has a flat/square battery, similar to what you'd find in a digital pocket camera. The remote is also rechargeable and has a docking station on the caller so you can charge the remote at the same time you charge the caller. You can activate the call with the control panel on the top of the call, or you can use the remote control. The picture below shows the remote control and the touch-pad/LCD control panel on the top of caller.

The manufacturer says the remote is effective up to 300 yards. I haven't had a chance yet to see just how well it works. Add a few bushes, trees, and some tall grass and that distance might be less in a real-world calling setup. I'll go try it out next week and give another report. If all goes well in the field, this could be one heck of a great caller at a very reasonable price.

I'm surprised with the variety of sounds on the list - it's got a lot of coyote, fox, bobcat, and prey distress sounds, but also has a lot for deer hunters, elk hunters, raccoon hunters, and a couple wolf & cougar sounds too.

After hearing all the sounds the caller put out i couldn't be happier with the price and design of this call. And special thanks to Midway USA for getting it to me so quickly IMO midway is the best deal for those of you looking to purchase this call great customer service and fast cheap shipping. i got it for less than $130 shipped to my door. My only fear is getting a visit from the game warden while I possess this item that plays deer and turkey sounds which is not legal in Missouri.

This looks like a really neat little unit for the money. I'll sure be interested in seeing some field reports when some of you guys get it in the field...

I buy allot of things from Midway but for the same money I think I would rather have a guy like Mark to lean on for questions.

cbosshogg79 quick question is Mark from wildlife callers? Ive heard great things about their custom work with their mighty atom units.

Thanks Cody - we appreciate the thumbs up.

Please be aware that we'll always match a price but never cut our service.

We have both of the Flextone Calls in Stock and Ready to Ship

We're priced just under Midway and have used the WT sounds for several years. If you need advice, we're here to help. Just give us a call. I'll be headed out ASAP with one of these ECHO eR1's to get some field notes for everyone. Don't hesitate to call us if you have a question.

All the best,

Mark Healy

I'd be interested to hear how the volume level is, as well as the ability to upload your own sounds. Price sure sounds enticing! Neat looking unit.

Mark,

This looks like a real cool unit. I will be looking forward to your review. I have been looking for a back-up unit to my Minaska Ultimate One, and this baby might just fit the bill. I like the idea of the Wildlife Tech Sounds. I think that gives this unit alot of credibility right there. I would like to hear your thoughts on the caller's clarity and volume. Thanks.

Mark

I have answers to two more questions:

Programmability - it is a closed system. There is no jack for this purpose and I don't find an obvious way to remove the memory for the unit and change anything. The way the remote works (shows the name of what is being played rather than a simple number) the task of altering the unit AND remote seems well beyond scope of how it was engineered.

External speaker - There's no jack for this either. The unit come with 2 speakers--one larger than the other. They can be played individually or together with a click of the remote. Playing both speakers is obviously much louder than either played separately.

So far it sounds good and has good upper end volume without crackling and distorting. I need to get out with it, use it on a few stands, make some side-by-side comparisons to the MA-15 and 21, and see how responsive the remote is at various distances in different types of cover.

I'll get back with some additional notes/news.

Took out the new call for a field test while crow hunting yesterday. Made the first set and used the mouth call and the Flextone. On my second set I cranked up the volume and honest to god 40 crows filled the horizon and began circling over head and landing in trees 200 yards away. Took 4 crows on that set and went back to the truck and finished out the day catching whit bass. Awesome day!

I would rate the volume an a 1-10 scale at about 7 and the clarity a 9 outta 10. Its very compareable to my old pm4 in many ways.

Nope.

How do you know what sound? Dont Companies know your supposed to display what sound on the remote, you can't even see a number, sound name, nothing. Epic Fail.
