FLIR Systems Scout TK Mini Thermal Monocular

Does anyone have any experience with this? I was thinking of one to scan with them switch to the photon to take the kill

I'm intrested to see how people like this as well. I'm switching to a photon XT this week from traditional light and scope rig. Trying to figure out something for scanning and seen this new flir.

with only a detection range of 100 yards for a man sized target I don't think it would be very helpful for anyone hunting coyotes or fox. I'm using a ps32 right now and I'm looking to Move to something better. Even with the ps32 you can't identify a coyote or fox at much over 100 yards. Yes you can tell something is there out to 400 or so but as far as knowing what it is it doesn't cut it.

If I am not mistaken, the FLIR Lepton core TK scanner will not be on the market until later on in March? If someone already has one and my info is wrong, maybe they can chime in.

When it does go on sale to the public, it will be a nice cheap 100+ yard thermal detection scanner for adjunct use with other short range NV devices for hog and coyote hunting.

The new more powerful Flir Scout III handhelds are also a super good deal for much longer detection/ID ranges.

I don't know but I ordered one from nightvisionguys.com there wasnt nothing said about a delay. I got 2nd day shipping. Figured might as well try it.

depending on the model, 2-4 weeks for the three's, and 8-9 weeks for the TK!

I'll report back but FYI I have no prier experience with thermals...

Don't have any problem picking up coyotes from 100-600 yards w/my PS32 & knowing what they are from movement.

I've been using my ps32 for 2 seasons now and anything over 100 or so yards (not exact, might be a bit farther) just appears as a hot spot. At 600 yards with perfect conditions you can barely see a hot spot on coyotes.

TThe NVG. say the flir mini will ship in march. So I'm thinking if I have to wait. Might as well order atn new thermal scope. atn-thor-hd-384-1-25-5x19-thermal-rifle-scope. What do yall think of it? Anyone with atn thor experience? I'd like to hear everyone's thoughts. Yea it's the cheapest thermal scope I've come across. So let's hear the thoughts.

I'm going to advise you to hold up on that purchase Predmann. Here is the reason why. It is true that ATN has out some decent thermal scopes (at much higher prices), but this new scope is patterned after the X-Sight digital scope, which was an absolute disaster. To put it simply, they tried to make it more like a cell phone than a rifle scope for hunting. ATN incorporated too many bells and whistles and gadgets that didn't work and caused all sorts of glitches and still hasn't been fully fixed.

The new thermal they are advertising has all the same set of unneeded bells and whistles and in my opinion can't possibly deliver on them. Additionally, as I remember the X-Sight was over a year behind the scheduled delivery date when it finally was released and it was nowhere near ready then.

Plus, the Customer Service has not been good by most reports on the X-Sight. Now if you want to invest in one of their higher priced thermals, you might be okay, but I wouldn't invest in this one or get my hopes up that it will be available at the supposed release date.

If you want a thermal to scan with, I don't believe you can currently beat the Pulsar HD19A, and you can get that for under 2 grand. For a thermal rifle scope your minimun is going to be closer to $3,000 with something like an Armasight or Pulsar and that will be bottom of the line right now. Hopefully competition will drive the prices down, but it all depends on how long one is willing to wait.

Thank you doubleup. I think I will just hold off on that and just keep my purchase with the flir mini and see how it does. Then if this thermal comes out good then may think about it. Thank you for all the help.

I would like to get into a thermal and been looking at different options for scanners, what kind of information can you guys give me on the Hz rates and which is just too slow to refresh making it irritating
