Flir MLS-618 - a more cost effective LS64?

You will not be able to detect the different core size at all, that is a great deal on a great thermal scanner.
 
My guess is that they are using the older 640x480 cores from units like the M24.

The pitch size of the LS64 is 17um.
The pitch size of M24 core is 25um (I think).

Does smaller pitch size give better performance?

The nice thing is that they are using the 35mm lens on both the LS64 and the MLS618.

P.S. I can't help myself researching these things. It is one of the downsides to being an engineer. We think too much.

Shurshot, I don't think I understand your post.

The MLS318 has 2x, 4x, and continuous zoom just like the LS64.
 
That looks like a super deal, basically it is the exact same thing except an older core but you will not be able to detect the difference.

It does have the zoom and 2X & 4X, which work beautifully, and it does have the 35mm lens.

There is nothing not to like about this, very good price and great find!
 
very good, but the LS64 can be purchased for the same price and as always it's buyers choice. I suppose I would get the newer core for the same price if I were buying one.
 
sportsman-depot.com but I just looked and they are out of stock now. they were available a couple of weeks ago when I first found them.
 
Shurshot, you are the man! Good find. I agree. If they are the same price, going with the newer core would be smarter.

I can wait until they get in stock.
 
I called and spoke to Flir. The MLS-618 uses the exact same core as the LS64. It is a misprint in the brochure.

They are the same camera. I just ordered mine from Hodges Marine for $5200.
 
can't beat that! looks like all the less expensive LS64s are gone right now too. they will have a hard time selling them once people find out about these at 6k.
