For all that's holy help. I'm thinking of buying a taurus.

Buy a half gallon of Crown Royal and drink it very fast. Hopefully that will be enough to make you stop thinking about buying one of those. Do it quick!! Tom.

As far as CS, I have never had to use them. I own a Tracker 44 mag, a model 445 in 44 spl, and a PT 738

My friend DID have an issue with a Raging Bull. He sent it in, they determined it was a timing issue, fixed and returned it in 10 day in perfect working order. BTW, there was no cost to him, shipping or otherwise.

ALL 3 Taurus I own perform flawlessly. They have never failed to fire or cycle and are accurate. I can easily free hand hit a 20 oz pop bottle at 25 yards 5 out of 5 shots free hand and can do the same at 50 yards off a rest.

I would buy another taurus, if it was needed. I was looking at the Model 94 in 22 lr, just for fun. These are just MY experiances with the company.

I guess for every BAD report, there will be at least equal amount of GOOD reports....

Panther I myself own 3 other Taurus's (PT 92's) and have never had an issue with them, although I have not used them heavily. I've heard people that love their Taurus guns and have never had any problems. I would encourage anyone thinking about buying a Taurus to do a bit of research on why so many people despise Taurus. I used to be the same when I heard of the horror stories. I used to say to myself "Well I have never had a problem with mine" The thing with Taurus is sometimes they will pay for shipping, sometimes they won't. Sometimes they fix a gun on the first try, sometimes it seems like they can't do anything right. In my case the gun kept arriving back worse than before. How does a revolver leave their repair center that when it is loaded the cylinder will not close? I'm sorry but that is just unacceptable. Perhaps it is just the 650 CIA, I don't know. I just know that my Ruger SP101 has been used hard for 20 years and I've never had a problem. The S&W 640 has never been a problem either.

As I stated previously, it was the way they handled the situation that put me off on them so bad. Personally I will never buy another Taurus. Does anyone know of any police department that uses them? I wonder why no police or law enforcement agency uses them if they are so reliable and have a lifetime warranty. It seems they would be able to save quite a bit of money if they were to choose Taurus.

I HAVE heard plenty of issues with the CIA model. Maybe it's just the design. But I love my Taurus pistols and wouldn't hesitate to recommend em to anyone. Except the CIA model that is.
 
I'm not personally Anti-Tarus. All I will say though is being a firearms instructor,I see more failures to feed with Tarus than any other semi-auto handgun. I'm not saying I'll never own one,but I'll be sure to give it a good breaking in before I carry one.
 
Have you looked at the Ruger SR9C ?
I have the SR9 Fullsize and thats my Carry Gun
my buddy has the sr9c and its little to me anyways
I can conseal the fullsize pretty easy with a Deepcarry holster and my Tshirt over it
but i am not "little" 6'1" and 225lbs i find my full size is great for the use
oh and ACCURATE and Reliable too! just an option to look at
 
I work the gun counter at a major retailer. I can't begin to tell you all the Taurus CS horror stories that I've heard and experienced. It's always the same thing: you pay the shipping only to wait 6-8 weeks for return and the firearm still isn't fixed.

I personally bought the Sig P238 because I thought it was cool and it felt good. It did shoot nice.....when it worked. You have a 50/50 chance of getting one that works. Sent it to Sig and just like Taurus, it was returned with the same problem. It wouldn't eject. They said they replaced the recoil spring??? I ended up tuning the extractor myself to fix it, then sold it and swore off Sig.

Now I have the S&W Bodyguard .380 and love it. No problems through 500 rounds. Double action + a manual safety and slide lock after the last round. It fits comfortably in my pocket and disappears in a pancake holster. LOVE IT!!!!
 
Thanks Texas Solo for giving your experience working at a major retailer. I've been trying to warn people about Taurus's CS and repair department and have gotten some flak for doing so. Every person I've talked with that is in your position or that is a gunsmith knows what's up. Thanks again.
 
I too have been lucky enough to own quite a few Tauri and never had any problems. I bought one the othe 840's cause it was too cheap to pass up and that thing is a shooting son of a gun. A Glock knock off to be sure.

No issues with Taurus on my end. Owned a PT140 also. Ran like a champ and with a stainless finish, bulletproof in Florida. Only sold it to pick up a Diamondback DB .380 made right up the road in Cocoa Beach, FL. Also has no slide lock at last round, but shoots as accurately as any full size gun I have owned or shot. Very happy and the best looking of the .380 pocket pistols in my opinion. Disappears into Dockers and shorts equally well.
 
Never owned a taurus but I sure seem to read about problems with them, even the revolvers.

I would look for something used and stick with any thing that has a reputation for reliability.
