Moderators, I'm not sure if this was the correct forum for this question, but it seemed like it should be.

My question is for any Kansas resident of Marion, McPherson, or Saline counties.
It concerns the "Don Brown Memorial Shooting Range", located near the Maxwell Buffalo refuge, between Canton & Roxbury.

Have any of you used this range?

I understand that KDWPT operates it.
Their website gives almost no info about the range itself.
So, 16 days ago, I sent KDWPT an email, using the email address on the website, asking for info on the range.
Stuff like...are there tables/benches for sighting in rifles; are there "permanent" target stands to attach targets to; how much does it cost; hours of operation; ect.

Since then I have sent 2 more emails.
So far, I have not rec'd a single reply from them.

So, I'm wondering if any member here from Kansas has used the facility, & can answer my questions.

I'm really wanting to go there to sight in &/or check zero on my rifles.
Especially since I do NOT care for the "Outback Park" range that is NW of McPherson.

But, being from Salina, I don't want to drive there, and not have all the equipment that I need...(ie: shooting bench; target holder).

Any info will be helpful. Thank you!!

I live in McPherson and use it all the time. It's free open as long as you can get too it. They do have target holders but bringing some card board to tape up on holders isnt a bad idea. They do have very heavy duty tables with 2x8" board tops. No seats, and they are kinda tall, a bar stoll works perfect. Go early if you want it to shoot alone for a little bit, about 9 am peopl start showing up, and you may have to wait. I've talked to people that have driven from as far as Russell and south of Wichita... Pm me for my number if you wanna know anything else.

Thank you for the response!!

Good to hear they have the holders. I can get all the scrap cardboard I want from my former employer, so that's no worry.

One last question, please...You say a bar stool is ideal height for seating at the tables.
Does that mean that a folding metal chair, "patio chair", or some type of "dining room" chair would be too short?

(I don't have anything taller than that.)

Yeah the tables come up to about the middle of my stomach and I'm 6 foot. A folding chair will be lacking. I usually shoot prone from the ground.

Will,

I know you got your answers but you still need to annoy the living crap out of KDWPT. It tells me one of two things: 1) customer service sucks or 2) they are refraining from advertising a gun activity.

BOTH ARE CLEARLY UNACCEPTABLE!

Yeah customer service sucks.

I highly doubt it's a gun-related problem, as they list 82 shooting ranges across the entire state (both private, privately-owned public use, and state-owned public use).

I think they wish that gun range would go away. There are alot of creepy people that show up out there commy blasting SKS's. I was there shooting one evening and two guys showed up with an AR and a mosin nagant and proceded to blast away from 100 yards open sights at the dirt mount behind the targets. I called to go down range and switched my target, when I got down there I was suprized to see about 4 Doe's grazing away not 20 yards from the dirt mound. I walked back and told the two guys that I couldnt' believe it but there were deer standing down there 20 yards from where we were shooting. Those two idiots went on a dead run down there to try to shoot them, OUT OF SEASON, WITH FMJ surplus ammo, ON A GAME PRESERVE...

Well? Did they get em?

I packed up and left cause I didn't feel comfortable continuing to shoot with them down range. I wanted no part of that hot mess.
