For the life of me why don’t a firearm MFG make a Drilling firearm ?

Why a three barrel shotgun, because some very restrictive countries don't allow pumps or semi-autos. Even some four barrel ones have been made in the past.

Drillings are very labor intensive, keeping the weight down and regulating the barrels.

This is my Coyote drilling, I would love to find one n 16ga/16ga/5.6x52R(22 Savage Highpower) for you youngsters it is pretty much a 30-30 necked to .228,

16ga/16ga/6.5x58R Sauer

This one only has 2 1/2" chambers but 1 oz of NP BB's is quite effective, no real need for heavy loads as the rifle is just flip of a switch away.

It is quite accurate and well regulated.

Left and right barrels with Brenneke 2 1/2" slugs and the rifle barrel at 50 yards all held on the 2" red dot

And this is at 200 yards with the 1-4 scope that is on it.

My personal preference is to have 16ga barrels up as the gun is much more lively feeling like long barreled 20ga sxs. 12's while nice on a combo gun get reel clubby feeling on a drilling.

This is my big game gun, 16ga/16ga/7x57R It is a JP Sauer mad it the 1960's, again very accurate even with factory loads. The coyote drilling was made in 1926.

This is the oldtimer, made in 1907 again 16ga/16ga/9.3x72R, this one came to me with the head of the stock shattered with parts of the wood missing, the right hammer loose and it looked like it had been dipped in axel grease in 1940 and stuck I'm a barn somewhere. I have a lot of hours into it. The rifle bore is pretty pitted but I can hit a paper plate at 100 yards which is good for me as I can barely see open sights any longer. The grease did do a good job of protecting the outside of the medal. Once I get settled in in NM I'm going to work up some loads with Paper Patched 200gr lead RN's, I have the templates made for cutting patches and have wrapped a couple for experience but still need to decide on a powder to start with, I'm thinking 3031 as I have data for jacketed bullets in the 9.3x72R and I need to find or make a .364 bullet sizing die.

A three barreled shotgun being different than a drilling, has zero appeal for typical shotgun game hunting. If I lived in a country that restricted pumps or semi auto shotguns I could happily live with a quality O/U or SxS shotgun. A drilling with a rifle barrel is a different sorta creature and with a different purpose behind it.

Great pictures and info AWS. I have a friend that has a 9.3x74. I think its the American version. Correct me if I'm wrong. I'm not to good with those calibers. Its a neat rifle but a little stout on the recoil end. LOL

AWS..... very nice guns you have there. I wish I had one. AWS do think some Gun manufacture will ever make them again were a working man could afford one ?
Under $2000.00 ? Marty

Blaser is making them and i believe Merkel still makes them plus maybe a couple of others, i think the blazers start at 8k. There are a number of them floating around this country for under 2k

The 9.3x74R is a much more powerful round than the 9.3x72r, it is in the same class as the 375 H&H. It is quite common in europe and used on Hirsch, Red Deer and boar in combos, drilling and double rifles.

I actually saw a drilling at a gun show today. I can't remember the brand or caliber but it was nice looking and I think he said $2500 for it.

They are quite common in 6.5x57r everyting the 6.5 Creed will do and a rim for positive extraction. Ammo is readily availible and reasonably priced.

That's pretty slick!

It really makes no difference why someone wants something different than everybody else. As nice as they are, someones thinking AWS's rifles are useless to them. SO What!! He likes them and he paid for them. For years I tried to figure out what a 300BO was good for. Still not sure what its good for but I got one and its fun to shoot. Everyone's got something that someone thinks is useless to them. Who care what they think? If you want it, figure out a way to get it. Different strokes!!!

I always liked the savage combo guns even if they are clunky. Drillings are cool but cost prohibitive for what I personally want. I think as was mentioned earlier $2500 is about the right price. I kind of wonder if you could have a good gun smith take a browning citori and build barrels for it. 223 and 16 or 22/250 or 243 and 12 with mechanical triggers to make up for the difference in recoil and add some reliability.

There are a number of nice combo guns 222 Rem/12ga by BRNO, CZ,Tikka, and a few more for under 1k.
