For those of you with black action and stainless barrel

For those of you that have a rifle with black action and a stainless barrel, is the barrel typically bead blasted?

I've seen several pictures but can't where anyone says what coatings are on barrel

I get all my SS actions and barrels bead blasted, if its a blue action I usually have it cerakoted graphit black and have the barrel bead blasted

Barrel was not bead blasted. I would just call it a machined finish.

Mine is just a semi polish. Thats the way it came from Criterion. I want to Cerakote the barreled action when hunting season is over.

Can anyone tell me was type of media they use to bead blast? Ive got a barrel on the way and if its a shiny finish I want to dull it down.

I think walnut media will do it but probably the glass would work better for a matte finish

The really smooth satin finish is glass/ceramic bead, not sure on the 'grit' size. More dull is aluminum oxide ,IIRC.
