Former Army Sniper Demonstrates Offhand Shooting

I can't even see a thousand yards! Was interesting that Colby Garrison, the host of tv's Top Shots was there watching also.

Sh!thouse luck is better than skill anyday!!!

A certain amount of luck was probably involved in the offhand part; the wind doping etc. comes from lots of trigger time. I sure wouldn't want him shooting at me, and that's a fact.

Great shooting, and a really fine job of control and sight alignment... Hands down..
I would imagine they had that zeroed at 1000 or more commonly 800 (for that weapon), I have fired one of these rifles and they are pure instrument of death. The drift is not bad and in that wind would most likely be a left of 10" and with that weight of the rifle with his left forearm holding/supporting the rifle the Figure 8 wouldn't be as bad as with your typical rifle. (it's what happens in the off hand)
I have fired that weapon at targets of 800 - 1500 and its shocking how well it works. I wouldn't want to own one, and if you want to know what it's like to fire.. Put your head against the garage door spring and hit it with a hammer while someone pushes down on your shoulders.

Agree heavy rifle helps steady offhand but not sure I could hold up a thirty some pound rifle long enough to jerk the trigger.

With iron sights on 24-26" barrels,.002" = 1/4 moa, or .008" = 1 moa which amounts to (about)1" @ 100 yds or 10" @ 1000 yards, anyone care to try to hold that tight offhand at any range? Most standard rifle crosshairs cover close to 1" @ 100 yards.

That is bad on bad. And just like the rest of us top nock shooter, when you pull an impossible shot off on your first shot showing off, You sit the rifle down, walk away, and don't attempt to replete it. Forever braging rights brother. Like I said bad on bad!!

Video was a bit shaky @ 1:33 but I believe that's when he placed the empty case in the action as an open bolt indicator for benefit of other shooters and range officer.
