Fox/Jackal on Saturday night

Lochi and myself went calling on Saturday.
We got to the farm a little late and got set up.
Lochi was calling and I was (supposed to be)shooting. Lochi called in two jackal on the first stand and I was lucky enough to get the first one with the first shot, and the second one after /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif 5 yes five more shots.(In my defence he had his afterburners going) We packed up and went to the next stand where Lochi called in another Jackal and he nailed it. On our way to the last stand Lochi was on the back of his truck and saw a fox, I stopped and he called it in with a mouth caller and nailed the fox even before I could get the light from him.
Score Lochi/Wimpie 4
Fox/Jackal 0

Africa is the place to be.

Hey Wimpie,

I have classes after hours on how to stop a jackal on after burners.

Great shooting. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I long to return.

Sounds like you chaps had a good evening. It's winding down over here. I doubt I'll make it out again this season - too many other irons in the fire.

Oh by the way, where are the pictures???

Sounds like a good time but I too want to see the animals I'm not too familar with jackals. Would you be willing to tell more about them?

Here's a link to Lochi's page with some information on jackals.

Here are a couple pictures of jackals from my trips to Africa.

This one was a nice female shot in South Africa last August:

Here's a pretty nice male, also shot in South Africa:

Here's a closeup of his striking coloration:

Gerhard (a South African member of PM) called these in for me last August during my stay there.

Here is also one from my June 2004 trip to Namibia:

I thot if you killed a jackal you'd go to hell?... don't it say that in the Bible...?... or was that jackelope?...heheh /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Don't see too many of those critters here in PA /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif.If they were here I'm sure our coyotes would eat them /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif.

The jackals and coyotes look alot alike if you colored them the same; ears look bigger on a jackal. Pretty cool pics good to see there are pred hunters all over the world.
