Foxpro CS-24 Questions

I am considering purchasing a CS-24, but I have a couple of questions.

I am undecided over the 10 watt versus the 15 watt CS-24. Is it worth the loss of portability to get the benefit of the 15 watt speaker over the 10 watt speaker? I should not be having to carry my setup no more than 300-400 yards as we have a lot of roads on our land. I live in South Georgia with clearcuts, timberland and some swampland.

Secondly, has anyone had the dual battery modification done to the CS-24? I have a couple of small 12 volt AGM batteries that I bought for my little boys' Powerwheels Jeep. I would think that the call would last all day on just one of the 12 volt batteries. I just hate rechargeable AA batteries in that they do not seem to last very long and it only takes one bad battery to mess up a whole set.

Is it a consensus on this forum that the CS-24 is liked more than the Fury?

Thanks
Thomas

Get the 15 or 30 watt model so you can call louder on those windy days. I've never run the AA's down on my 30watt calling all day. I had a Fury and used a Sp55 with it, sold the Fury and went to the CS24L with no extra speaker. Best call purchase I've made.

Having had the Fury and now the CS-24, do you miss the Foxcast feature?

On my home made caller that I use with my IPod I have a couple of 15-20 minute call sequences that work really good. Could I just download the same file to the CS-24?

Thanks
Thomas

Just my opinion but the 10w model is plenty loud just as it is. The CS 24 is also very directional so you can point it where you want the sound to go. I regularly ran my FX 5 on full volume and my CS 24 is rarely over 30. I agree the batteries are kind of a pain but Hunting all day has not run them down so far. I would not trade mine for a larger model.

I have used the 15W and 10W CS-24 and am now pretty much using the 10W model exclusively. I have the dual battery jacks on mine and only on my long, multi-day trips use dual batteries when I'm out for extended periods in the cold. I can run my single Li-Ion pack of batteries all day in the caller. What is the amp hour rating on your 12 volt batteries? That'll dictate how long they'll run for you in the caller. My Li-Ion's are 2.6AH and do fine.

I never used the foxcast or a sequence. I just switch sounds when I feel like it. I chose the 30 watt model because I hunt open farmland and regulary call yotes from 1/2 mile +. On windy days, I wanted the extra volume without the aid of an external speaker and getting it off the ground.

Yeah that is part of the problem in making the decision. The 10 watt model is nit any cheaper than the 15 watt model right now so usually I would just buy the 15 watt model.

I feel like I am loosing money if I buy the 10 watt model when I could get something 50%? stronger for the same amount of money. I wish I had the two side by side to see the differences between the two models.

Thomas 5 watts, if the horn is bigger, it can't be much. My 30 watt is twice as big.
