foxpro firestorm

I've got one and have been kind of disappointed in it. It's pretty loud, has tons of space for sounds, sounds pretty good but the remote is a constant problem!!! I hate the [beeep] remote. Half the time it works and the other half it's on it's own program. I use high quality lithium batteries(14 bucks each) and change it often. I've had it at my side and it won't work and I've had it 30 yards away and it works just fine. I really can't figure it out because it's so inconsistant. I really want to send it in but i'm constantly hunting and the half of the time it works i find it very useful!!! I guess i've learned to deal with it.

If it's that inconsistent you should send it back to foxpro. They will take care of it. Something is not right.

I just bought one a week ago and havent got to use it in the field. Have noticed u have to push the heck outta the buttons to get it to work sometimes but thought that might just be because its new

If it constantly works at a distance and constantly does not work close in it may be that the signal from the remote is missing the unit when it's too close.

Have you tried aiming different sides of the remote at the unit?

I've no experience with these so I'm just guessing.

That's exactly what I'm talking about. It seems like the "mute" button is the worst, or maybe I just use that one the most. I always hang the call from a big bush or tree so I have a clear path to the call, turn the antenna towards where i set up and it's still a crapshoot whether it works or not. I know it's the remote and not the unit it's self because when it's low light i watch the LCD to see if it lights up and only about half of the time it lights up when i push a button. I wish foxpro could just send me a new remote and i could send the old one back, but i don't think you can interchange remotes that easy??

I have one as well and My remote is the same way. You have to about push your bone through the skin to get the button to work. But with the right amount of force it works everytime. I love the call other than that. I wish Foxpro had it so you could upgrade your remote to the TX-500 with a firestorm. I would pay for that upgrade thats for sure. Until I can save the money for a fury or cs24, i'll just have to make due.

I am pretty sure the antenna is supposed to be pointing straight up and the remote should also be pointing straight up. I don't think you are supposed to point the remote at the caller like pointing a TV remote at a TV.

I've tried it just about every way imaginable and it works best if they are pointed at each other.

Bama mike, I'm in your boat. I'd definately pay for the upgrade of the remote. I'm kind of disappointed that foxpro is using the TX-9 remote now for all of their lower end models, as i feel the remote is a bad product. I should've just bit the bullet and bought a cs-24 instead of the firestorm. I feel for the extra couple hundred dollars it is a far better product. The bad part is that i wouldn't even feel right about selling my firestorm to someone because of the remote problems.

I purchased a Firestorm on Sept 9, 2011. I purchased it from AllPredatorCall.com. They were great in programming it and shipping it quickly.

I took it to the field on a Sunday evening. The remote worked part of the time at about 40 yards. Some times it would do what I wanted it to do (change volume, change the call, etc) and other times it wouldn't. I had brand new Duracell Copper Top batteries in it.

The Firestorm had fresh batteries in it as well. Like I said, it was out about 40 yards and I didn't think it was that loud at all. I was expecting more.

I called the folks at APC and they were fantastic. They are a no-hassle company, wanting to take care of their clients. I upgraded to a CS-24B and it will be here tomorrow. I can't wait to try it again.

FoxPro's are excellent units. They are a bit pricey but I have always known their quality to be the best. I would suggest AllPredatorCalls.com as well for their excellent customer service.

My main hunting area is in Southwest Illinois, by Alton, Jerseyville and Dorsey. Much farm land here and many farmers are nice enough to let me hunt their property to thin out the yotes.

My firestorm has worked great from day one. Only issue I have with remote is the range is about 40-50 yards line of sight. Nowhere near the claimed 100+ yards. Not a big deal though. I never put the call that far away from me.

I just got a Western Rivers Apache from Cabelas. Normaly, $299. On sale for $159. It works better than any caller I've had including my foxpro. Way better. Also came with 400 sounds.

My Firestorm works fine out to 35 yds which is as far away as I normally setup.

Next time I think about it, I'll make some tests out a little farther and see how far the remote will work reliably on mine. So far, great product that works very well for me.

I have a FoxPro Prairie Blaster, FireStorm, and SpitFire with an extra SP-55 speaker and Jack-In-Box remote decoy.

All three work out to 100 yards with any problem whatsoever with me sitting on the ground and the unit on the ground too.

Changing sounds, activating remote, is not a problem. I have never tried them out over 100 yards as usually I try to be within 30-40 yards of the caller and decoy, but they do work just fine out to 100 yards.

The SpitFire and FireStorm remotes work great although the print is somewhat small on the FireStorm, still easy enough to read during the day in bright sunlight or at night without any assistance from any other light.

All in all, I give them an excellent endorsement for what I use them for, killing coyotes.
