Firestorm: Anyone use this caller? I am going to purchase this caller and was wondering what kind of range it has and also any other feedback would be appreciated. Thank you.

Never owned a Firestorm. But I've owned numerous other FP models that use the same RF chips for transmitting/receiving.

The remotes for these callers may work dependably out to 100 yards or a little more. But you better have clear line of sight to the caller and it really helps to have the caller elevated.

Lacking line of sight and elevated caller, all bets are off. May not work at 30 yards.

That's just my honest experience with trying to use them out in the real world.

DC is correct. For long distance with that remote you will need line of sight and elevation of the caller is important. The remote with the Firestorm doesn't have the FHSS technology and needs ideal conditions for the 100-200 yard distances. Overall the Firestorm is a NFC.

I purchased the Firestorm on saturday and used it sunday evening in my neighbors yard and the sound quality is very good and has plenty of volume. The words on the LCD screen are really small and hard to read, I don't wear glasses but will need to -to see those tiny words. I have an idea how to fix that without glasses but I am going to save that idea until I have done further research. Have'nt tested the remote distance yet but will let you know.

I agree that, at night, the type is too small on the remote. I can't read it either. The backlight just washes it out.
You can set the remote to display large print, but it only shows the number of the sound, not the name. I wish foxpro would fix that.
I agree that the range of the remote is somewhat limited. My experience is that less than 40 yards is a fairly safe bet, much beyond that is iffy even with a clear line of sight.
That being said, I have had zero problems with the call. The sound quality is good, particularly on 9 or below, it is fairly easy to operate, even with gloves, easy to program, and so far has been very reliable. Mine has survived being dropped, bounced around, lightly rained on, attacked by foxes, picked up and dropped by a great horned owl, and it still works.
I do not hesitate to recommend this call, and I would buy another one if I lost mine.

Dropped by an owl thats a good one. Farthest Ive used mine is about 80 yards no problems. The remote is hard to see but other than that no complaints here.

100yds with my spitfire was no problem, beyond that I had to actually point the remote at the call but move it in closer by 10yds and no issues, the spitfire does not have an antenna but the firestorm does, so why would the FS struggle to control the call out past 50 to 100yds?

You will like your firestorm.I have no problem to 100yds with mine.Best thing to do is run in out till you run out of signal thats what i did.I dont put the caller farther than i can hear it clearly to get the volume right.

I just picked up a firestorm too from allpredatorcalls.

All the pictures I see the caller has and antenna like the fury and fury 2, but I don't have one? Did they change this recently?

I have never seen a Firestorm with an antenna, so that is a new one to me. When I field tested the Firestorm, I always elevated it a nominal distance off the ground, and never had any problem operating it out to 100 yds or so. I do that with any of the ecallers. I can't speak for others, but it helps me to read the smaller LCD screens when I put a space between sounds. Overall, I consider it a nice ecaller, very functional.

Thanks. Even the picture on the manual has the caller with an antenna. Probably just a fury body. No problem [beeep], I know it's a good caller. Used my buddy's fury for almost a year now and it was time to get my own.

firestorm is a nice caller. my only complaint is the text on the remote is way too small. when I hunt with my night vision equipment I have to remove my glasses or everything fogs up on me. I started leaving my glasses in the truck because I was taking them off all the time to see. figured it was a matter of time before I broke or lost my glasses so I don't take them. so I have to leave the caller in the truck with my glasses because I can't see the remote without them. catch 22

No sign of an antenna on either the FoxPro site or at All Predator Calls, but Cabela's does show an antenna. Something weird about this.
