Foxpro Fury Cold weather battery life???

Was out calling today in 0 to 10 f weather. Foxpro fusion with foxjack only lasted 2 sets around an hour total before it started to cut out at higher volumes. These were brand new batteries I had put in last night. Assuming maybe these batteries had sat on the shelf too long or something we repläced them with new ones from my brothers stash that he uses on his WT-MA. End of second set on the replaced batteries, fusion call starting cutting out again on pup distress 28 volume level. Is this battery performance normal for this call and temperature? Is the decoy eating up the batteries? If the call was kept warm some how would battery performance increase big time? Most of the sets, volume was between 20-40. Needless to say after the second time the call starting cutting out we switched to the WT to finish the day.

sounds like you are using non rechargeable batteries?

if i try using good alkaline batteries in my fusion it does the same thing as you described.

if i use good rechargeable batteries it will go all day and then some.

Yep using alkalines. Maybe I have some learning to do here! So rechargeables will outperform alkalines? I always thought alkalines were better than rechargeables

If your going to use non rechargeable batteries you need to use lithium for cold weather was told this by fox pro.

I have had my Fury "cut out" which to me means "stops working" when I play a howl or high pitched call at higher volume. It can't be restarted until I walk over and shut the caller off and then turn it back on. It doesn't happen often, but is annoying, especially when the batteries have a good charge. I'm using Tenergy NiMh. I'll look for some Lithium ions to try.
