Foxpro FX5 Troubles- don't want to have to send it in.

I hunt 3 times a week and don't want to have to send my FX5 in for a long repair. I'm hoping someone here can help.

Foxpro FX5 about 5 months old. New battery in remote and batteries charged on FX5 unit. Remote software version v1.12e.

I can't get better than 15' distance and still control the base unit. I was hunting with a few Minaska reps this weekend and purposely brought my FX5 to blow them out of the water. The unit wouldn't respond to the remote if I was more than 15-20 feet. I decided the batteries were low on the unit but I came home, recharged them and it gets no better.

The unit is 3-4 feet in the air when I'm testing it and I am not pointing the remote like a TV remote. I am not getting interference. I can control sounds from the base unit just not with the remote.

Anyone have any ideas?

Sounds like the FX-5 and the remote have gotten out of sync. Try hooking up the short cable and download all the sounds to the TX-200 per the instructions in the manual.

I had trouble with mine last year using a decoy too close. It would do all kind things like go back to the first sound and the volume would go up but not down. Sometimes it wouldn't respond at all. It could be what possumal said.

There have been many many upgrades since yougot your unit. I would send the whole kit and cabootle in for service. Im betting it wont take more than a week or so to get it back.

Al, Thanks for the response. I connected both of them and downloaded the play list again. Powered down and back on. It still has trouble reading the remote if I am more than 15' away.

Did you change the channel ??? I.E. caller on channel A remote on channel B or C ??? I have done that before and forgot about it only to get out and find my remote didnt work , got all pissed off went back to the truck and then said DUHHHHHHHH when i remembered i had changed the channel setting .go to the foxpro web site and look under instruction manuals , you might find sompthing there that will help . or you can check to see if its out of sinc. thats what it sounds like to me . Jerry .

ok, next round of possible solutions.

Went to the local store and purchase a a Duracell Coppertop Alcaline 9 volt instead of the cheap 9 volt I had in the remote.

I also went into the unit and changed the channel to C and the remote to C. Loaded in the playlist into the remote under channel C and powered both units down and back on.

No luck. The remote is either failing to communicate to the receiver in the FX5 or the receiver is failing to get the signal from the transmitter.

Dang. I have a hunt tomorrow. Guess I'm hand calling.
