Hi.

I am from Norway and have paid attention to this forum for some years.
There are way too much fox in the areas I hunt and surronding, unfortunately a bait isn't efficient for me anymore.
I really want to buy an e-caller from foxpro and a store just got some Scorpions for sale.
Is this a safe buy?
It's a bit more expensive than for you guys in America, but there isn't too many that exports over the occean.
I am open to suggestions, I just want to help the small game to increase in number.
Does a "e-calling-for-dummies" exist?

Hope you will share your experience and give me some advices and starting out tips for the use of electronic calls.

Thanks

aiwass,

Welcome to PM! I have the older X1 Scorpion with the older remote and like it very much. It is easy to drop in a pocket and loud enough for the majority of calling situations. The sounds that are included and the sounds available are clear and realistic at any volume. Additional sounds are easily downloaded and programmed.

South Dakota has lots of open ground and I have added an SP55 speaker and a 'Yoters Den deployment bag in order to be even more effective in my area. The Scorpion uses a speaker amplifier that will handle an external speaker without distortion. If calling in miles of open country, the addition of an external speaker is simple.

There is nothing but good I can say about the Scorpion caller. I actually prefer hand calls but whenever I call the Scorpion is in my pickup. It is a great unit and is both convenient and expandable.

I bought the old X1A Scorpions when they first came out, and except for a few bugs that FoxPro always took care of, I like the call, in particular, the size. It was always plenty loud for me.

Thanks for replying.
We don't have those large open fields around here, but some small lakes and logging fields. We have lots of forest and therefore some good places for the animals to hide.
I have used some hand calls the last years, and shot some foxes, but I can't say that I know what I am doing.
I hope this will let me see more animals and hopefully give more chances to shoot.

It's about 600 dollars for the Scorpion over here. Too bad there is no competition between stores to sell this.

Any sounds i got to have when going for the red fox?

Can you not order straight from Foxpro? I would even check out their refurbished units. If you can order from Foxpro I would recommend giving them a call and talking it over with them. I think you should have a good exchange rate if paying by credit card? I have the older Scorpion model and I think about 6 fox specific sounds. Most all of the sounds produce fox. My favorite hand call that I can seem to call a fox in about every stand is a Primos cat-nip call. Might want to check on that too.

Picking up my old topic.
I bought the scorpion and got it late in the season, but got to test it together with the mojo critter 10-15 stands.

I used the snowshoe sound and called in 3 foxes that I know of. The last one attacked the mojo...pretty nice to watch from 30 meters away.

I picked it up again today for the first stand this season. I saw a fox on a field about 100 meter from my stand, but it escaped into the forrest...
Started out with the woodpecker sounds for about 18 minutes, changed to snowshoe for 10 mins just to try, and just as an experiment I found the juvenile distress sound and then the fox came running after less than a minute! It stopped 10 meter from the call/mojo critter and a 30 gr Berger HP closed his eyes.

I am definately convinced!
Looking forward to try it for moose and other animals later this year.
