My friend Will came from Mississippi, teamed up with him and Alex and hunted well into the night;

Some more team mates from SPO arrived the next day. High winds blew in, but we grinded it out all night. Had a few misses and only put 4 on the rack;

The next day we crossed the border into Texas. Another night of high winds. We called in more pigs than coyotes and only put five in the truck;

Rested up for a few days and the headed out to the valley with my friend Brian to call some coyotes. On the way in, we both said it just felt like one of those nights.

First stand came up blank—but after that, coyotes hit every set until first light. Brian stuck it out with me ‘til 2:30 AM, then tapped out. I stayed in it, grinding through the dark ‘til morning.

How's the weather out there?

The heat is hammering us in the Southeast. It went from a very nice/cool Spring to bam, 112 in a week.

Thank God we are getting storms here and there so it's not bone dry, yet.

Its very hot here, mosquitos about eat a person up if the wind is not blowing. We have had a lot of rain so their larva is hatching out all over. Chigggers are pretty bad to I'm itchy for a couple days after i hunt.

As long as we get rain every few days it keeps our mosquito numbers down. It’s a lot of rain and then nothing for a few weeks that lets them hatch out. Every day rain drowns the larva. I’m starting to think there’s such a thing as too much rain!!

I saw my first turkey poults yesterday-July 2! And they were puff balls maybe the size of tennis balls with flight feathers just beginning to sprout past the quills. We had toooo much rain/cold in May and early June in SW PA. Then the heat started in mid- June. I would guess it was at least her 2nd attempt at nesting.

@Spurchaser
