Fun way to hunt coyotes

Long ways from hunting IMHO. If coyotes need to be killed due to killing stock then so be it whatever gets the job done. Legal or not, using a machine that does 100 mph to run down and kill coyotes isn't hunting, just killing.

Great times! Did alot of community hunts when i was a kid with trucks and more recently sleds. Good day 15 plus down. Feed lot guys.

That's just crap that's not hunting!!! If they were killing live stock then by all means kill them. But doing things like that for sport is dispicable. Beat your chest and call yourself a great hunter.

It's no different then using grey hounds. So you couple fellas can say what you want n keep your noses up high if you'd like. This is another way how guys hunt coyotes here, plain n simple. It's very popular around here. I didn't make the laws, I'm not being a renegade and doing whatever I feel. I'd really hate to see what you boys think about Texas folks and using a helicopter. Next time, think what you want n yell into your computer screen and go to the next forum topic, please and thank you. All the snob comments on this site are getting worse and worse and starting to think nothing is worth posting anymore. But I'm a person that has to defend himself for someone trying to pin a jack*ss label upon myself.

I don't see where people draw the line. If it is legal everyone with negative things to say can mind your own business. There is no difference in the morality between different techniques of coyote hunting. Unless you eat every scrap you do it for sport. And I don't want to hear that they are killing live stock a trapper could catch more than you could shoot in that case. Too many high horses here. The guy was hunting in a legal way sharing his fun with us

+1 well said!

It is illegal here but when people start using motorized vehicles to hunt, kill or pursue anything it normally leads to trespassing. Nothing burns my azz more than when I am out calling and people just show up and circle an area with trucks, atvs, dogs, drivers, or whatever pushing ground that I have permission to call and "hunt". They think they are doing the world a favor by killing coyotes and that that gives them the right to do whatever they want wherever they wish. Most of them don't even own any land and they apparently don't consider that someone else might be hunting. If you guys have that much land to run on and it is legal then no problems by me but I think I will stick with my rifle, my Foxpro, and my 2 feet. That way when I kill one I feel like I earned it and pulled off something a lot other hunters only seem to pull off with the help of motorized equipment etc, which imo is cheating. While it does look exciting, I hunt to spend time experiencing mother nature and her beauty and also for the challenge of it, not the thrill of a kill. I guess I must be getting old lol. Btw Im not on my high horse, just my 2 cents.

Dead is dead. How a coyote get that way is a matter of personal ethics and legal issues. It's not uncommon around here for people to run them down with snow mobiles and run over them. FWIW, chasing coyotes and shotgunning them goes back to Model T pick up trucks. In Wyoming it is illegal to kill any wild life from a vehicle. The law was pushed hard because of people shooting p-dogs from vehicles. Kind of a special interest group with money thing.

I think a RZR XP Turbo EPS with 4 point harnesses would be perfect for the use shown in the video.

Some would say using a FoxPro or anything but a stick and string is cheating. Not me. Just because you don't do it MY way I'm not going to cry about it. Cool vid. Looks like a blast

Same place three years ago. We did all calling then. I call just as much as any other normal Joe getting well over 100+ stands a season. The opportunity rose up that the landowners wanted coyotes gone. The wind came up, the weather got warm, so we improvised and hooked up with a dog runner. It makes everything a lot easier when you have a big chunk of permission and EVERY landowner knows EXACTLY how you're going to harvest the coyotes. So driving where ever you want is kind of out the window. Some of you may not think it, but just cuz some people run them down doesn't mean it's easy. There is some strategy and coordination that plays in. I'm not here to argue with anyone. I enjoy all aspects of harvesting coyotes. That's all I hunt is coyotes. Don't judge me because occasionally I like to get the blood pumping in a different manner than having a coyote come charging to my call or seeing a coyote in a foot hold. Just enjoy the video n be amazed at how cool technology has come these days..haha. Those GoPros are the real deal!!

The bottom line is its not for any of us to decide what is an acceptable way for another hunter to hunt. All legal hunting is cool in my book. And to comment on a guys thread assuming that he is trespassing is just a bunch of crap. That would be like me saying that it's not OK to hunt predators at night because most guys driving around at night with lights are spotlighting deer. Where each of us draw our own lines is a personal choice and really we don't need to be picking on each other, we have the anti's for that

If you are referring to my post I hope you go back and reread it and realize that I never accused anyone on this forum of trespassing or told anyone how they should hunt. Trespassing while trying to kill coyotes happens at home though constantly and it leaves a very bad taste in my mouth. Coyotes are tough to kill and a lot of hunters around home don't want to put in the effort to do it legal because they would never get one killed.
I have killed as many with a bow as I have with a rifle and have had success without electronics. They don't come easy with any method until you involve dogs and motorized vehicles which is why it becomes so inviting. Would I try it if given the chance and I knew it was 100% legal? Yes I would, but I am not sure I would label it as hunting or a real challenge...at least I as I know the word. It is basically just another way to effectively kill them and the op sound like he uses methods besides vehicles with success. No need to read things into my posts. I also don't think the op is bragging about how bad azz he is killing coyotes this way. I think he was just sharing his experience, however I think I am entitled to my opinion without it being twisted.

Where exactly does it say shooting from a vehicle is legal in the KS hunting regs? As far as I know it is illegal. In fact a special permit is required to hunt from a vehicle in KS, only permitted to those who meet certain disabilities.

Coyotes may be shot from a moving vehicle with a shotgun. Our regulation (attached) states in part that:

(7) The use of motor vehicles for taking coyotes shall be permitted while hunting coyotes.
(8) The use of radios in land or water vehicles shall be permitted for the taking of coyotes

Shooting coyotes from off the road is allowed if the hunter has permission from adjacent landowner. It would not be allowed if the road is a state or federal highway.

That's emailed to me from Game & Parks in Pratt, KS

Coyotes are considered a non-game species in Kansas. It's almost fare game on coyotes except you can't use a light at night. You can shoot them from the road if you have land owners permission on adjacent ground. However, you CANNOT shoot from a state or federal highway. And you can even hunt them during deer rifle season as where I live in Nebraska, NE you cannot carry a centerfire rifle during deer season if you don't have a deer permit. But I usually give the orange army there peace and I go else where to hunt. Haha.

think about the legal rules u just typed that u say KS has....

1)we can run down coyotes with vehicles to kill them with shot guns & shoot from roads if we have permission legally & its not a hwy

2) we can hunt at night but we cant hunt at night with a light

when I read rules like that I have to say to myself just because its legal doesn't mean its right or makes any sense.....because if those r really the rules in KS u can see theres a great contradiction there.......... as anyone in charge thats making rules saying its safe/legal to hunt at night without lights cant be getting to many of the hunting rules correct IMO....so just cause its legal doesn't mean its the way the rules should be does it.......... that when it comes down to morals & ethics...good luck
