Funniest thing you've seen while coyote hunting?

I haven't been hunting that long, and haven't seen much, but I did think it was hilarious when I calling after dark and the neighbor came out into the field I was calling looking for a "coyote". I know yall got some juicy stories!

Sometimes I get a kick out of seeing a mouse pop out on top the snow running around. This fall pheasant hunting I saw a ferrel cat I wanted to get a chance at. I was hunting the corn field and had about 30 coon in front of me. 1 big boar. The cat came out and him and the boar got face to face and the cat won. I didn't put him down because I had coyote howling all around me. Late this winter a young cow had got out of the pasture I was hunting and for 20 minutes I watched 2 coyote try to take it down. 1 would circle around front and the other would go for the back end. Yipping and howling the whole time. It was about 450 yards out so I walked out until they took off.

One of my favorites is when I set up in a new area, it was not a great stand and I couldn't see much once sitting because of grass and terrain. I set the foxpro in this small opening and there was a little hole near the center so I set the call down where it couldnt be seen.

After a call or two, I dont exactly remember how long it took, but I hear a coyote coming through the tall dead grass my way in a hurry. I'm convinced I saw this coyote travel further airborne than on the ground.

He popped out of the grass around ten yards in front of me, he jumped out and over the last bit of the grass from a sprint, when I first saw it he was sailing full stride over dead grass into the little opening. At this point it only had to take a few steps more and it was on top of the call... and its glowing green light on a cloudy poor moon night, it was darker than I would normally hunt.

But it saw my call as it was traveling full speed and I imagine that green light scared the heck out of it because *SPRONG* like a spring that coyote was back airborne and just gone. I never even saw it land, a ten to fifteen foot leap around 6 feet high right back into the brush. The whole thing took a second or less on a dark night, for a second I thought I must be seeing things but the tracks were right there in the snow.

A coyote coming in hard launching himself from 10' out grabbing my woodpecker decoy out of the top of a 4' high bush. I found the decoy about 30 yards out and my nephew drilled him about 200 yards out.

Again hunting with my nephew one ran over his shoulder and launched himself at the decoy again about 4 ft off the ground this time it die when it hit the ground.

My BinL and I were sitting on a snow drift over looking a river bottom and the coyote stuck his head over the lip of the snow drift right between my BinLs feet, I don't know who was the most surprised. My BinL recovered and killed it about 80 yards out when the coyote looked back to see what the heck that was.

Another time we were sitting on either side of an little pass between two hills. I looked over at his side and there was a coyote stalking him. At about 6 ft away from him I thought that was close enough and shot into the hill away from the coyote to spook him. I didn't think my BinL would appreciate me shooting that close.

I have shot some behind him in the past but not that close.

I had one sit on the opposite side of a bush and stare up at the caller and decoy. It keeps the bush between me and it all the way in and again on the way out when he decide it wasn't going to be an easy.meal.

I had a bunch of horses come up to the call and one grabbed it in its mouth and start to run off with it. I switched up to a loud male Howl and it dropped and ran off.

Let them get right into the business at hand and then jump up all indignant and feign disgust. You’ll get a whole range of reactions from total embarrassment to anger blaming you and a mix of the two!

A nice loud female coyote in heat call right about then would prob make them pull them drawers up quicker than they really wanted to! Doesnt matter.....didnt happen without pictures!

Called a coyote to our side of the fence, and my buddy shot and missed. This coyote turned and ran full speed back the way it came in, but hit the lower wire and bounced/rolled backwards several feet. My buddy did not miss the 2nd time.

Late March, I am using a cottontail distress handcall, and every time I let loose, 2 turkeys gobble behind me. I call, they get closer. After 20 minutes, no coyotes in sight, and the tom's are in the brush, maybe 30-40 yds away.

I switch over to coyote howls, and the toms gobble, but they are farther away each time I howl. I guess they did not like coyotes in the area, lol.

Bobcat in heat should get them excited and moving! I came up on a couple making babies once, they weren't happy campers anymore.

I was set up on a fence row one time, started calling with a mouth call, the field to my right had cattle in it. About 25-30 head come up towards the fence to watch, they are all standing there fixated on me and I apparently on them, all of a sudden they all look to their right. Gave the coyote away and he got smoked. Anytime I hunt around cattle I keep a close eye on them, they know right when a coyote shows up.
