Fur question raccoon?

Trapped this guy and was windering if this is mange? If so is
the hide worthless? Thanks for any responses!

Not mange. It is a bite mark that is associated with the mating season. Some buyers will not buy coons taken after the first of the year for this reason. There are many more punctures that you cannot see until fleshed.
 
I agree either a bite mark or rubbed fur from the den tree. Either way with the low prices for prime raccoons right now, probably not worth the effort to skin, flesh, and dry. The short tail does not devalue the hide.
 
Where that is at it really wouldn't hurt much, since they are going to cut the tail off before using. Local buyer might down grade it, but it'll bring more than you think at auction.
 
if it was a nice male definitely do the work to it. The buyer will still buy that coon. Thats just slight damage. It will knock the price down a couple bucks but its still worth it. My buyer is buying coon for $20 for XXL.
