title says it all....last year I sent some hides off to a tannery and they were what I thought was expensive. so wheres everyone sending there hides? I usually do a few wall tans and give a few away but don't want to break the bank...
also I just skin'em and freeze'em I don't flesh etc...lol

Cheapest and best never belong in the same sentence,

Send them to Moyles in Heyburn ID
Coyote will run around $28 +/-
Beaver about the same

I sent about 40 hides to Moyles last year and was very pleased... The only drawback is that it is about 7/8 week turn around... They have a website and price list

A taxi friend mentioned them....maybe ill give them a shot this year ! Thanks

There are 3 big tanneries that are really good that pop into my mind. Moyles, Tubari, and Furs for Fun. Here are their websites. I have only used Moyles personally but they have always done a nice job. I will soon be sending a beaver to Tubari as they are the only tannery that will hand pluck the guard hairs on a beaver, leaving only the underfur. It produces a pelt that is even softer than if it was sheared.

I would suggest fleshing them out yourself if you can. I know some of the tanneries will flesh them out for a fee, while other ones won't.

I've seen Furs for Fun's work in the past. I sent them sample this last year, they came out good. Fair prices too..
New Method Fur Dressers are the best I've ever seen. They are wholesale only and getting stupid pricey.

None of the 3 I posted will flesh anything, they only accept stretched, fleshed, and dried.

Curious hdwolfer, why won't you send anything to moyles anymore?

Good info Tim, I stand corrected. They gotta be fleshed though. Contrary to what some think borax won't effect the tanning process either. I used it on my wolverine to draw moisture out of the paws and a lot of guys I know do the same, and they send 100's of pelts to moyles every year with no adverse effects.

I don't like how they treaded one customer. I skinned a nice cross fox out for an older couple. They had caught on their place. They wanted it tanned. They shipped it to Moyles even paid for a return recipt. Anyway Moyles said they never got after returning the recipt they lied about everything. I had a nice cross fox tanned their and they put a few more holes in that I thought should have been there and they are usually swamped it takes for ever to get it back.
I've used Furs for Fun too.
I just like the guy in Nampa he did a grey and kit fox for me a couple of years back. I knew he was okay when he tanned the kit fox with out any holes at all in it.
Each to his own but I will never use Moyles agian or say anything nice about them.
