Did anyone catch the show last night? Mac was shooting the new .50 cal semi auto sniper rifle. They had some slow motion footage of him shooting. I couldn't believe how much the scope bases and scope flexed when the gun went off! It's amazing that they were able to keep zeroed.

I saw that as well, it almosted looked like the scope bell was going to touch the barrel. It made me think twice about the scope mounting method on my big boomers.

The devastation of the cinder blocks was cool though.

I haven't shot a .50 cal before, but I may have to look into one. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Ya that was pretty sweet, did you see him fire off 5 shots as fast as he could? My immediate reaction was OUCH but I they said that the rifle doesn't kick too much, wonder why?? O ya, probably because it weighs 30 pounds haha wow.

Yeah, they said that. but I also saw his body moving back 8" with every shot.

Did you notice how hard he was sqeezing the gun when he fired the rounds from prone. His blood vessels on the top of his head looked awful. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

What was cool was the explosion from the smaw rocket. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

It was a new British made rifle. I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me when I saw the scope and mount flex, glad someone else caught it.

Glad I am not the only one who saw that, was wondering the same thing + maybe they built some movement into the mounts to take some shock out of it. Really looked like it moved or flexed quite a bit. After all the .50 does have a bit of a kick. Never fired it in something that light, but I burned up quite a few rounds during my time in the Army

I saw it last night too...that scope flex is kinda scary

smitty, itis on discovery channel...i think it is on on wednesday???

It sure wouldn't be a fur gun. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

The gun was indeed made by Accuracy international. held 5 rounds and was 27 pounds (I think it was 27)

Looked like lots of fun to me. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

Just think for a minute that stuff is all declassified. The Secret stuff we don't even know about is head and shoulders above that old technology.
