FX3... Calling with BOTH speakers on?

Guys I read the instructions and it states that for many sounds only the "front" horn style speaker is needed for the best tone/sound quality, with the added benefit of extended battery life. The "rear" enclosed speaker is most useful when the deeper gravelly sounds are utilized.

However, to my ear, the FX3 really, really, sounds sweet, clear, and natural with both speakers running at the same time. I don't hear any degradation of sound/tone when both speakers are used at the same time, even with the shriller high pitched calls. As I said, fact is I think it sounds best with both speakers running.

OK, my question... Other than battery charge, is running both speakers actually degrading/hurting my sounds/tone quality when calling with ANY of the sounds? Certainly if Mike Dillon could respond, but also some of the other guys with FX3 experience could chime in it'd be appreciated.

GC,

There is no other disadvantage to running both speakers at the same time. In fact, we knew that this would be the way that most would use it. The only reason that it is mentioned in the manual is to try and make the users fully aware of the decreased battery run times by using both speakers. Hope this helps!

Dang that was fast! Thanks Mike, I appreciate the super quick response! BTW, I just received the camo cordura carry/storage bag and Reese lanyard I ordered from your website. The order was processed quickly and properly. The two items I mentioned are of superb quality, must haves for a Fox Pro owner. Thumbs up, you're on top of things there and it shows in the quality of service and product!

My ear can't hardly tell the difference with both speakers running or just the front. The rear speaker is almost useless to my mind? Evidently I don't have any sounds deep enough to be able to utilize the other speaker.
Great call, Im very happy with the sounds, and the quality of them compared to the other FP calls Ive owned. The dual speaker set up is the weak link to me, not what I expected it to be.

ChileRojo,

As we have stated in the manual, it will be hard to tell a difference on a lot of the distress sounds. Most will do just fine with the front speaker. Try this for me. Download a few of your favorite songs on the FX3. Now, first play it through the front speaker only. Next, play it through the rear speaker. Then, while it is playing on the rear speaker, turn the front one on. You will see what I mean about the speakers complimenting each other very well. With a song, you will get a full range of sounds. With an animal distress, you normally will not get this range. Hope this helps. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif.

So we can load it up with some good tunes and use it as a stereo? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif
Ey it's even remote operated. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif Weddings, karaoke, block parties, /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Wouldn't be soemthing if someone calls in a yote with some Zeppelin? I've often wanted to tape my kids crying and try that for effect. Still have not tried it!

RR,

You sure can put songs on your call. I don't use but about 8-10 sounds most of the time. The rest of my FX3 is music and sound efects.

I've got Gun and Roses, Hank Jr., Ina Goda Lavida, and even the helecopters from "Apocolipse Now"loaded on mine(Sounds awesome through the large external speaker, neighbors just love it) /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif. I also have a variety of other sounds effects I loaded that I'm sure will come in handy sonner or later if you know what I mean. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

bhw,

I have a baby crying recorded on my FX3 as well.

Interestingly- to me...

The lower volume cone speaker is much more natural sounding, and is full range accenting both low's and highs, whereas the horn speaker is much more focused on the upper mid range.

This is why I think it they compliment each other so well. Both played together fill out the frequency spectrum pretty well.

Got my FX3 on Thursday, went out for the first time on Sat, at the first stand I used both speakers, started with a howl, went to lucky bird (should be titled "unlucky bird") and immediately switched to the crow party. Had a coyote respond within 10 minutes. He stopped about 50 yards out and took off, in the opposite direction, couldn't figure it out until I saw a bunch of illegals coming up the wash.

Think I will continue to use both speakers.

Mike - You may want to contact the Border Patrol here in AZ, seem that your new caller is very capable of not only calling in 4 legged coyotes but two legged ones as well. Could never figure out why they call the "guide" of these illegals coyotes, seem a great injustice to our 4 legged coyotes.

That I have to say is a remarkable use for the FX3!.. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

predatorpopper-

Are you buy chance an illegal or 2 legged illegal "guide"?

If so I could see where the FX3 would be pretty offensive.. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Please keep in mind I said "illegal", nothing racist about that, you are the one who said Mexican. However if you support illegal activity on our borders than I can see how you would not appreciate my comment. If the shoe fits wear it.

Right up the road from ya, Hereford. Have called McNeal/Double Adobe/Elfrida/Douglas areas in the past but not to often. Now that I'm retired will get down that way more often. Do most of my calling up here in 35a.
