I was just at the local Gander Mountain and need a drink. 223 Remington 55 grain cor lokt were priced at $39.95 a box.
A Box of 20!!!

I cannot believe any will sell at that price most other Win and Federal stuff were about hallf of that and...

I had just been at Scheels and the 50 rd boxes of remanufactered 223 was $24 to $29 a box.

Remington greed? Gander greed? or a sign of the times?

I would say Gander greed, the store near me is selling 250 count Nosler BT's 55gr 224 bullets for $74 and 100 count boxes of the same bullets for $35. OUCH!

It's Gander.....they are very high on a lot of that stuff.

I go in there with a paper and pen and when the managers ask what I'm doing, I tell them "I'm just making a list of things I need to pick up when I make the hour and half drive to Cabelas"....they usually just laugh.

I know people who work there and get 20% off. Even they shop elsewhere since sometimes the 20% still doesn't make stuff as cheap as full prices elsewhere....It's sad really, since we don't have much else to choose from, locally that is.

When the Knoxville,Tenn store opened the prices where in line with most of sporting stores in the area. After 6months most gun prices raised about 15 percent and ammo prices are higher there than anywhere. Gander Sucks!!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/angry-smiley-055.gif

Each Gander Mountain store must price their products differently. We have a Gander in Washington, PA, and a Cabela's in Wheeling, WV. My experience is that Gander is cheaper than Cabela's on components, and Cabela's is normally out of components(most of the time). Tom.

yea i rember when the knox one opened they was fair priced but on there way high ,,a remington sps and a bushell scope and bipod was 1000 dollar and i can get that for under 700 here

Gouging Gander is what it is. Over the past year the Gander nearest me has always been nuts on ammo and reloading components. $30.00 plus for a box of 55 grain Sierra Game King BTHP's is their normal price. 10 buck higher than SWH or my local gun shop. I can't even keep up with their outlandish prices on rifle ammo, I do remember seeing Federal Premium .243 stuff at $39.95, and that's been several months ago. Their guns have always been guaranteed $50.00 higher than the same gun at SWH.
I finally quit going in the place.

When I lived in WI, Gander Mountain always did "double the difference off". So, if you could find an item for $10 less at Scheel's or somewhere, they'd knock off $20. You had to bring in an ad or get a note from someone at the competing store. I scored a number of things at great prices. At one point, Scheel's had the Lone Wolf tree stands $50 cheaper than Gander, so I ended up getting $100 off the Gander price. I was pretty happy.

Not sure if they still have this policy, or if it was a local one, but it might be worth checking into.

Yep, the Gander in Davenport IA has a 20 round box of Remington Premier Varmint Accu-tip 223 priced at $39.99! I couldnt believe it. They are way out of line with their price gouging. I wont buy anything there after I saw that.
THATS JUST WRONG and THEY KNOW IT !!!

I try to stop at any gun shop along my travels in the big truck and I can tell you Gander is prolly the highest priced out there! But they will match!

yup,

gander has really gotten out of line over the past 5 years.

I am not sure what it is they want to sell, maybe clothes?

But they sure do not care to sell firearms or related items.

I have not purchased anything in one in quite some time. I do, once in a while go in one if I have to kill some time while near one, mostly just depresses me any more.

I thought the 223 Remington 55 grain cor lokts I paid 15.98 for at Walmart were high. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I live 3 miles from a Gander Mt. They are WAY out of touch on what little reloading stuff they still have. They just don't care about it, and tell me of how they sell so little of it. Metals have gone way up, and prices fluctuate. They've simply marked the stuff up to the highest possible market fluctuation price and left it alone so as they will not have to mess with it again..........

I know what they offer for the used guns that walk in their store and it's almost an insult yet people sell them. Gander then puts a tag on them what you can buy for new if you shop around. I'm off to Gander in a few hours to burn off a Xmas gift card. They still have the best selection around for me. Sometimes you have to do what you have to do.
