Gander Mountain Ouch!

Hey for what its worth I just went to the Gander Mountain web site and there is a place where you can "email" comments/suggestions. I told them how I felt I will try to post their reply if they give me one.

Maybe a few more of us should send em some comments !!

Yes, they have been price gouging on their reloading supplies, bullets, and powder for around two years. I asked a while back and they told me they were getting hit hard on shipping. I dont know if they lost thier original supplier or what but the only thing I purchase from them is powder now being theyre basicaly one of two choices I have and the other has powder that has had birthdays on their shelf.

i was there last week to pick up a set of 223 reloading dies...$39.99/ i thought that was high but i haven't bought any dies for awhile.......im still looking.......anybody want to trade for a set of 300 win. mag......i loaded 40 shells with them.

The GM store near me has huge gaps in the shelves where inventory appears to be very low on a lot of products they sell. It almost looks like they are going out of business.

If they are going out of business here, extremely high prices for the Houston market is the reason...

I used to shop at Gander Mountain when they were a catalog store several years ago. They had good prices - then. Too bad that greed has taken them over, or should I say, "management."

I think Gander Mountain, and others like them, cater mostly to what I call the wannabe hunters. These are the guys that only hunt, or shoot a few times a year. They probably won't shoot a box of ammo, in a years time. They don't know what is a good price on guns or ammo, because they don't shop around. I have bought a few articles of clothing at Gander Mountain, when they were on sale, and even then, they were no bargain. The biggest reason, I go in stores like Gander Mountain or Bass Pro Shops, is to examine and handle something I am interested in. Then, I order it myself, and save the money, to put towards something else.

I our area they went from a whole isle of reloading supplies to about a 10 foot spread max. I think they are getting out of the reloading part of it and litteraly raping the public on what they have left.

6mm,
I, like you, shopped at Gander Mt. a lot when they were a catalog and on line store. I got some good fly fishing stuff for reasonable prices. Now I seldom go into the GM near me because they are so high on everything. I've purchased clothes and shoes there, but that's about it.

Acadamy Sports is less than a mile away with better prices. I'm hoping to purchase a .45 soon but I'm betting I go with one of the two or three local dealers, even if they are a little higher.
