I am an evil ar-15 coyote hunter... and have never had an issue with anyone ever commenting on it. Its a tack driver and is a very effecive weapon of choice.
Sounds to me like Clancy has an issue with slob hunters running coyotes with vehicals and taking hail marry running shots. Ar-15's are not going to stop that from happenting. People who hunt in this style are going to do so no matter what firearm they chose to use.
