Gave up on Hodgen Powder

I have used it for years but I just can not find any. I need 16# of Benchmark for a 308. Anybody know of a load for 125gr bullets in a powder I can get.

I bought some Accurate 2460 from Powder Valley....It's currently in stock right now. Has loading info for 110 to 200 grain bullets in .308. I shoot 168 grain Nosler custom comp match bullets with it mostly and had fantastic results! But I have shot 110-125 and 130 Speer varmint bullets with it as well...worked out real good for me too!

I also shoot a lot of Varget and H4895 and like the Accurate powder just as well....It may not be as temp tolerant but if its under 20 degrees and over 100 degrees I stay at home...in those temps there is no noticeable difference anyway.

If you got a buddy close that may have some try a few loads...if you like it...Powder valley has plenty!

Now if you can get more to follow suite, maybe the rest of
us Hodgdon buyers could find some.

I saw it coming, and laid in a big supply, before the 2012
election...And was fortunate to find a 8 lb jug of Varget,
and Universal, to back fill some dwindling stocks. I just
did not see the ammo shortage leading to a big increase in
hand loading interest. In 2008 we saw primers get short,
but powder supplies were still on the shelves. This time
the ammo panic sent people into the world of hand loading,
just to have ammo, and they brought the panic buying with
them. I was ready for a primer and maybe a short powder
shortage...Nothing like this though. And who would have
thought 22 RF would be as crazy as it is. I am hoping
things start easing this fall, as people move on to Holiday
spending, but who knows. This year's Holiday spending could
be on new reloading tools and supplies.

If there is anything thats good that could come out of this....A LOT more people will be reloading. It may take a while to catch up from this shortage but if there is more demand for reloading supplies when there isn't a shortage maybe the next one may not be as bad. Manufacturing capabilities will go up as well hopefully!!

Powder and primers are fairly plentiful around Kentucky now if you just get out and look around.

Just noticed Powder valley has Accurate 2015 in stock as well...Another pretty good .308 powder!

Good Luck guys!

No when I work up another good load I will stay with it. Anybody know what powder seems to be readily available? I was thinking maybe Alliant.

Just noticed that but I got plenty of results from "Benchmark Powder in stock" nobody has it. Looks like IMR series is available everything but 4895 which would be what I need. I have been through several of these shortages but this one is the worse I have seen.

If you come across any Ramshot TAC powder, it should do well for you in reloading .308. Its my preferred .308 and .223 powder. Being a spherical type powder, you'll love the way it meters.

Can anybody verify this ?

I was not aware that Hodgdon makes any powders they just market and distribute.I have not heard of any interruption of production.

I wonder how long this "moderator" can go around making silly jest towards members and offers no help or any other on topic advise....?

As for Hodgdon Powders, they're trickling slowly. They ( as with all others) seem to move quickly. Or they get the price jacked up beyond reason. But, keep an eye out, you'll find some. I have good luck with the local classifieds and on the PM classy's. My wife has grabbed a few pounds of stuff I wanted while I am over here.

Check the gunbot.net. A good resource if you want some powder in stock. There seems to be quite a few loads available for 125 gr pills in a 308.

Ive been seeing it on occasion locally. Still none of my H335 but a LGS did have 10+ 8lb jugs of Varget. But at $250 they can keep it. They also had a boat load of primers. But again at $7-$8 per 100 they can keep it. I politely asked the guy if they had any 40 or 53 grain V-Max. Owner said they were too hard to get instock. What he did have was $26 per 100. Well I went to Cabelas next and they had a few boxes of Vmax of various weights.

I think supply is slowly catching up but the stores that arent gouging are still selling it pretty quick. Cabelas raised their prices a few dollars and they arent selling very fast, sportsmans is running the same price and they are always sold out.

I have back ordered from midsoulth 2 times this year and recived it with in 3 months
