So CJ has been shouldering the 20ga O/U I have every time I open the safe and said he wanted to go squirrel hunting. We had no quail hunts this weekend so we went this evening.
His first shot was sorta kneeling next to a tree and it flat knocked him on his butt…first time ever shooting a shotgun, lol. He ended up killing the squirrel though!!

After that it was on!! The next 5 shots he was standing and smoking them. My other son Zac was with us and he went one direction while we went the other. CJ ended up with 6 and Zac shot 4!! Fun times!!

I would like to have saw CJ after his first experience with a shotgun! He is coming along fine, maybe some coons will be his next great adventure.

I’ll be honest, I was thinking he was gonna hand it to me. All he said is can I shut one eye and aim? I laughed and said Yes! He said well y’all were saying point and shoot. I said that’s for shooting dove or ducks, not squirrels! He’s already saying he can’t wait for dove season next year.

Maybe I’ll take my 22 for a walk tomorrow and maybe build myself a pot of squirrel stew or pot pie?

Squirrel hunts are always fun. I used to hunt them with a 20 ga pump all the time when I live in Georgia.
