ghillie suit transport to stand

I recently bought a ghillie suit from ghillie suits.com. Great suit and have already been successful, calling in critters almost nose to nose. The problem is that the suit is big. I can't put it in the bunge straps on my pack--too big. I have carried it in a burlap bag--this is a pain. Here is Texas, it is too hot to wear walking over 10 yards. Any veterans have any good ideas??
 
I too have one of those and it is hot to wear in the summer but in the winter I welcome the extra warmth. I tried carrying it in a backpack but to me it's just so much easier to put it on at the truck and just deal with the heat, most of the places I hunt the only way to get to good calling spots is to walk in about 600yds through thick brush so carrying extra stuff gets to be a hassle more than anything. I see you live in west Texas so you should be used to the heat anyway!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif Where abouts you live?
 
Hello Heath, I live down the road in Colorado City. I went out the other day and it was cold and windy--it was sure handy in the wind. One thing I have a problem with is it grabbing brush. Not too bad, it's jute, but still a pain. How is the hunting over there?
 
If it's possible I would find some aftermarket sleeping bag straps or equivalent and roll it up and secure it with straps. Adding shooting sticks (if you have some) between the straps will make a carry handle, or possibly with the straps you could now bungee it to your pack. Just a couple thoughts that came to mind.

Straight shooter-Yeah it will grab just about everything you walk by but the concealment is well worth it. I've had turkeys just about land on me and browse around at arms length for about 10 minutes several times. The hunting has been slow trying to get me a nice buck before I start calling critters. I have seen alot of yotes while sitting for deer though, got tons of cat tracks also so it should be pretty good once I get out calling. How's your hunting going so far?
 
The deer hunting is slow. Too much brush and too hot. I just hunt for meat---that means I can't afford a horn lease, but there is too much food out there this year. I have kill two coyotes but they were scroungy. I am waiting for colder weather. It has been frosty all week in the mornings so maybe this weekend I'll go after a few.
 
T/C 223, thanks for the response. Good idea. I think I'll give that a try. I made my own shooting sticks out of old oak stretcher handles. I just ripped them to about 1" square so they are plenty strong and adjustable.

Straight Shooter, your quite welcome, Glad I could help, I too know about the heat and the bushes grabbing it. I have a Rancho Safari Shaggie and at times it gets hot. Mine came made with straps on it so thats where I got the idea. when you roll it up you'll need to roll it up with the indside facing out so all that jute is in the inside. That will make it easier to use the straps. I can email you a pic of how mine rolls up if you'd lke to see what I'm talking about.
