Mine is a poncho made out of jute from ghilliesuits.com pretty nicely made. They have a nice two piece one that seems to be more for varmnt hunters.

As I said in a previous post to make a ghillie I went to Wally World in the Sporting Goods Dept and got some fine mesh camo cloth. Then to the Sewing Dept and bought some different colored burlap (light tan, dark brown). I took some of the light tan and dyed it green and beige. I then cut it into strips about 2" wide and 18" long. I made a pullover out of the mesh that reached below my waist to my knees. It's easy to make. Fold over the mesh double and cut out a torso like a paper doll. You then have short arms so fold over remaining mesh to make two arms to length and sew them on. Cut hole for your head. Fold over remaining mesh and make a hood with draw string and sew on the hole for your head. To install the burlap fold over strips leaving a 6" long part and a 12" long part (6"+12"=18"). Start at the bottom of the pullover and sew on the strips at the fold in a row all around the suit. The 6" part of the strip should be on the outside of the 12" part. After that row is finished move up 6" above the first row and sew another row around the suit the same way. You have to alternate the burlap colores to get the patern to match where you hunt. Example for the desert you would use more tans, beiges, maybe a little grey, light green, even a little black, etc. High desert would have more green and dark brown added and so forth. As I said you'll have to dye some of the colores you want if you can't find it already made up. When you get to the hood make the rows 4" apart and make a crown on top. Leave some long strips around the face of the hood so that you can flop them down to cover your face. You can trim them later to your own personal specs..
After the suit is covered go back and shread the burlap (take the cross threads out). You can do what you want. Leave some whole (flaps) and shread others. Or shread them all. Shread the long pieces and leave the short ones. It's up to you! Then.....after you've got it the way you want it (and this is no joke) take the suit out to a field with lots of dried grass and brush and drag the suit front and back. Really mess it up. Shake it out good and you have a ghillie. I tie a small piece of blaze orange tape on the back of the suit so you know where the front is so when you pull it on you get it right the first time because if you do it right it is almost impossible to tell the difference even with the hood. Leave it outside in the weather to let it air out to get rid of the new smell. Believe me you don't need a bush or tree behind you to cover your profile. You can make stands in the open and look like a bush yourselve. I've sat out in the open and had a bunch of elk walk all around me. I'm lucky they didn't step on me. If you do it right there's nothing better. BUT don't ware it in the rain. It will turn from 10 lbs to 100 lbs in an instant. Good luck, DonL

Nice suit there Don, looks like you put alot of work into matching the color sets. Think I will have to post a picture of mine after I my rifle wrapped up. I mine last deer season here in michigan. Besides being nice and warm it hid me away from other hunters tresspassing on the land I leased. Had one guy come up and sit about 20 yrds in front of me I let out with a howl and jumped him right out of his skin. Needless to say don't think he will be back anytime soon
