Ghillie Suits

I was just checking out the ghillie suits on allpredatorcalls.com, I see they have a snow camo ghillie suit. It says it is meant to be worn over a shirt and pants.

My question is: If you are needing to use this in snow conditions, shouldn't you need more than just a shirt and jeans underneath?

Does anyone use a snow camo ghillie suit in the snow that can shed some light on this. It gets cold in SD in the winter and have been curious about using this.

Will I have room to wear this over my parka and coveralls?

I just got mine yesterday and I got the xl/2xl and there is a lot of room for winter clothing. I probaly should have got the small size. Im hoping to get out this weekend and use it. well if the weather lets me..

I have made 2 of them from ghillie suits . com. Takes a long time but well worth it. I am now making one from scratch.I realy like them.............FARVA

Has anyone had any luck making their own ghillies?

I made a smock out of 2 digital sage ground blinds and zip ties. It's great for sitting, not so great for walking. I've got about $40 in it, total.

I used blinds similar to this, but I don't see the sage color carried anymore. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

Midway USA - ground blind

I folded the blinds inside-inside to make it thicker and reversible. It ends up with a very "leafy" look, but it will hang up on anything you come within 5 feet of. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Like Farva said, making your own is well worth the time and effort. You can customize it according to your hunting environment, which means sometimes 2 suits to be made. It is time consuming but not hard to do when you have some free time. Cost of materials probably won't run over 50 dollars. Not too bad, plus knowing you made it not a factory. Oh yeah, this is my 1st post, glad to be here, I'm sure I'll learn alot.

Puppypopper talked me into getting one from APC too. Just got it yesterday. Scared the crap out of my 12 yr old daughter last night. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Looking forward to busting some crows in it.

Just read an article last night in the new issue of Predator Xtreme about coyote vision. After reading it I am doubly glad I got that suit now.

Got the xl/xxl and it's got room for cold weather gear underneath. Thanks to Puppypopper for cluing me in on that one. I prob would have gotten the large if he hadn't.

btw been here for almost 2 yrs and i'm still a 'new member' /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif
