Giant Coyote? What do you think?

I have a some questions...

How did he come across this animal?

Did he call it in during the deer hunt?

Why do you have his face erased from the pic?

Did he get to keep it?

Did it have a tracking collar on it?

I still think Husky even though 104 lbs is big for a husky that isn't as much of a stretch as 104lbs for a coyote. I also would question the weight from the picture it sure looks like he is holding it pretty easy for it to be that heavy

I couldnt even begin to tell you what it is but im sure if it were just a coyote/dog mix the conservation department would more than likely tell you that. Now wolf/coyote mix could be a different story bc like others have said the state dont seem to want to admit that there have been wolf, lion, and bear sightings in Missouri. As for him holding it fairly easy, you can clearly see in the picture his back is arched backwards and he has his right knee slightly under the animal helping him hold it up. Whateve it is it sure would be a nice trophy as long as theres no domestic dog in it.

Don't know if I agree with what you said or not.
Down here the DNR has admitted to having bear and mountain lions.
Still say no wolves but ....
The DNR is trying to get a count on the bears and there's been stories on the news and
in the papers that landowners in my county aren't cooperating with them.

A lot of question unavailable it seems but what ever they put down is what it will be on DNA testing it seems. It's not that I don't trust DNA testing I just don't trust the testers.lol

The markings show a very well furred out and colored coyote. Coyotes come in all colors (red, black, grey, tan)but markings tell the story. Look at his back and around the muzzel.
Though this is an exceptionally large coyote I don't believe it is any where near 104 lbs. Heck thats bigger than most of our deer. Animals look far bigger than they really are especially when they have a heavy winter coat. I'd guess the 60- 70 lb range and thats really pushing it. I'd check my scales. Just my opinion. Brad

Compared to my brothers coyote. I think his coyote was about 38lbs

that 1st one is pretty big

Exactly, and if he is pound for pound twice as big ( which he certainly dosn't appeaer to be)it would only make him 76 lbs. Brad

After seeing a close-up of the head, the rounded ears lead me to believe that it has some domestic dog in it. However, I still believe that it has some wolf and coyote genes. I agree that it is rare for wolves to breed with coyotes or domestic dogs, but it does happen.

My verdict is that it is a mut. Some type of wolf, coyote, domestic dog mix. It seems to show traits of all three, but that is just my opinion.

I'd get it mounted and put little wheels on it's feet and drag it around on a leash to freak everyone out! Just kidding...nice animal at any rate!
