Giant Coyotes Sighted in Maryland!!!!!

i was just showing how a large canine could be in the 100 lb. range and have the appearance to be a coyote, or even coyote genes. a very large coyote is possible in the wild. i agree that a normal coyote is not over 35 lb. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

crowpopper & GEORGE, here's a pic of a "weighed" 26 lb female. Look @ the other pic of the large male[above] vs, this little female. You should then get a better perspective of size/weight/length, difference.

No, I didn't weigh the large male[pic above]. But I know it weighed well over 50 lbs. As I've killed/weighed a 50 lb coyote before. The above male was the largest coyote ever killed by Myself or my Bro.

As for you, t & a. Your words are empty to me. After you tried in vain to tell me[et anyone else following that thread]...Why coyotes & Red Fox, are "multi-colored". Remember?...."stained coyotes & wild odd colored fur farm Reds" LOL! WOW! A Classic.

Not to mention, you gathering info from DNR sites[to boltster, your opinion]. AS IF....those are the, ALL encompassing/ "total truths" of the World. LOL! Straw Grasper! LOL!

NO 50-lb coyotes in Iowa? Another truth in your little World. LOL! Yeah, right.

I suggest you try & pound sand with a new guy coyote hunter. Who, doesn't have a clue. That way, you will be out standing in your field.
---------
circa;1971...I killed a 47 lb female[weighed] "Iowa" coyote. This coyote I remarked about in a previous hunt story. Largest female coyote I've ever seen or killed, in central Iowa.

Later, I will post a couple of pics of some large[pushing 50-lbs] IOWA coyote's. You'll get a perspective of how large they were, compared to fenceline posts that are in the pics, as well.

Most female coyotes in my area, run low to mid 30's. Males average, mid to upper 30's. Some in the 40-lb & up class, pushing 50-lbs.

57 lb New York Coyote, Yes on a scale. We shoot many every year that are in the 50's, once in a while someone will shoot one in the 60's. Most are between 35 and 48 lbs. They do seem to grow big around here, food is plentiful, life is easy for them. Except for the occasional predator hunter..lol
I'm about 6' tall and 200 lbs. for comparison.

You should have youre estimater checked by [Weights & Measures]. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Maybe when you kill enough coyotes you will be able to do a better job of guessing there actual weights.
I don't know of anyone that can give the actual weight of a coyote standing a 1/4-1/2 mile away> You must be the first!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Well because you are clueless & lack field experience. Or you wouldn't ask such a question.

A 4-strand barbed fence. Strands are roughly 12" apart. Two strands = 24" [est] high from the ground. A coyote that stands, "higher" than two strands @ the shoulder, is in the 40-lb class.

Now seeing how you don't know. Next, I consider body mass...heavy shoulder/chest & broad body = upper 40-lb class coyote. You know pushing 50 lbs.

Any more dumb questions?

You see, you have forgotten. I was hunting coyotes, when you were a mere toddler. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thats a good way to judge the size of a animal, only problem i have is how do you do it when its not standing next to the fence??
Both pic's show coyote in middle of the field...

We are a little slow up here. What we normaly do is shoot the coyote first and then weigh it and we then know for sure how much it weighs.. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-006.gif

Awesome coyote . Thanks for sharing.

Aaron_Proffitt,
Now THAT is a big coyote sir. I have hunted in western Iowa for over 50 years, and have never layed eyes on a coyote that big.

I've got a dumb question, how are you supposed to tell how large that coyote is when it is as blurry as a sasquatch sighting and it is quite a ways from either fence line. And at that angle you cant even tell which strand it is equal in height to. Maybe I lack field experience too or just missed the boone and crocket fence post field scoring seminar /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Well follower, of t & a. Because I watched these coyotes get up & cross through those fence's/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif. You know... coyotes are known to cross fence's, eh.

Point being in all of this. Your bud, ta. Hasn't apparently seen a 50 lb coyote in Iowa, so duh....none must not exist.

Go ahead ta, tell your esteemed follower. How odd colored coyotes & odd colored Red Fox get their color. That right there explains plenty.

Also ta, tell him how your group of hunter's kills a hundred coyotes in a season. You know, tell us how your group surrounds a coyote & flush's it towards posted shooters. Hmmm, take much skill...ugh. LOL!

You try one on one for a change killer. Your numbers would fall dramatically, no doubt.

Please expound, oh coyote man. I need a good laugh /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

One more note, ta. You posted a pic & story about an old wise coyote you finally killed. look close @ it's canine fangs. Very pointed....yeah OLD, LOL!

What there's more??? ta. Didn't you make well over a 100 stands before you managed to call a coyote into view? Et that happened "after you were tutored" Now your giving calling advise? Huh...what? WOOoooOOOOooow /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
