give me the pros and cons of the cz 527

The stiff magazine spring is an easy fix. Load the mag up to max & let it set in the gun safe for a couple weeks. It will compress some & get easier to load. We all have a little down time where the rig will set for a while. Thats all I did to mine. HTH
 
These guns are worth more than they cost. To Europeans our safety is backwards. It's really not an issue. In my experience with many guns over a long time, their accuracy is more often superior to that that of the common Remington, Winchester, or Savage. Minor tuning will get you into a high level of slick operation, the accuracy is there, and the cost is much better than others. Just my opinion. Buying another 222 CZ 527 tomorrow. Harry
 
My .223 will shoot almost every bullet made between 40-55grs at half inch or better. Except 50gr Vmax. After almost 700 rounds the lands havent even moved .005. The only con, and its just personal taste, is with the scope mounts. I would like something a little more trim on this lightweight rifle. My action is smooth as glass and so is the trigger. I like the ability to take the magazine out for transport instead of loading and unloading an internal mag. A well made rifle and worth its price. I wouldnt wait too long, these rifles dont have a habit of collecting dust on the shelf!
 
If the 527 came from the factory with a flush magazine like the 550, I would have one in a heartbeat. I just can't get around the magazine protrusion. Other than that, I'm a CZ fan. I have the 452 American and the 550 in .243 (rifling twist too slow for 100 grainers - 1/10") and they are well-worth the money. I bought my CZ before there was a rush on them and you could get them for much less than a comparable Remington. They are also all-steel and have no pot-metal on 'em.
 
I have 3 of the 527's and all shoot well under an inch with the .204 varmint consistantly under a 1/2 inch. Yes I'll admit that the magazine hanging under the action is ugly but for 65 bucks there's a guy that will cut it flush, take off the side flanges and he does a great job. Can't remember his name but a buddy of mine had it done so I can find out. It just doesn't bother me that much so I've never had it done. As far as the bass-akward safety, it's not any different than a Winchester 94 or a Marlin lever gun. You have to pull the hammer back to fire them and yet no one says that they're backwards. I have had to open up the barrel channel on every one of mine because the barrel was touching. Not a big deal but a minor pain in the rear. The set trigger is great when shooting from a bench but I've only used it once when coyote hunting. Most of the time I never remember to set it and I won't pre set when I get on my stand because it's to light and, in my opinion, just not safe when the action gets fast and furious. Bottom line, my 527's are here to stay. Even with the price increases over the last couple years I still think their one of the best deals around.
 


The only problem I have with mine is that the rounds feed rough. With only 3 rounds it feeds ok but put 5 in and it doesn't work. I bent the lit to angle the tip of the bullet up and have had 5 cases in there for the last month. I even buffed the lips on the mag a little bit. Hopefulley it breaks in over time!!
