Glocks are as reliable as any other semi-auto handgun. If I was in a contest to pick the absolute most reliable factory stock semi-auto handgun on the market currently - it would be the G17 9mm. With that said, they aren't the wonder machines so many like to claim. My department issued G22's for uniform patrol and G23's for detectives. I was the Firearms and Tactics guy and a certified Glock Armour. The guns were all combat accurate, around 3" - 4" at 25 yards. That's not target grade but will get the job done in the trenches. They were pretty reliable, but did have various small problems here and there. My special unit put 2500 rounds of Federal American Eagle 180 gr. FMJ through our guns in one four week period. Extractors began to break after the 1,800 round mark and required the extractors and ejectors be replaced. Bad batch I guess... However, there were other small problems too. Glocks are a machine, pure and simple, and must be maintained and looked after as all machines must. Not my favorite gun or caliber, but they can do to ride the river with in a pinch.
