go/no-go

When I put the new barrel on my Savage, I borrowed a set of Go/No-Go gauges. But..it came with a third gauge marked Field. The Go gauge for the set up, the No-Go to make sure the head space is correct....but whats the Field? I didn't even try it so I have no idea.
 
Field gauge is the one you don't want to work, if the bolt closes on it, that indicates excessive headspace. Nice to have in your pocket when looking for a used rifle.
