Do you ever just wake up one morning and go "wow this such and such caliber is a good gun! i want one." i have a magnum and absolutely LOVE them! my marlin is an accurate little gun! "until i shoot it"

i also have been reading up alot about the 22 hornet! no pawn shop around me carries one! one guy there said hes never even seen one! papaw let one go as a single shot 10 years ago for 100 bucks!

anyone got any pics of their 22 hornet? and what the most reasonable price out there are?

I have a CZ 527 American in 22 Hornet and it is a tackdriver. Don't forget the Hornets are centerfires while the Magnums are rimfires. I think centerfires are more accurate in my opinion by far.

I had a CZ Lux in .22 hornet and it was very accurate with 13gr of Lil gun with a 35gr vmax. Set trigger was insanely nice. I'll post a pic when I'm out of class.

AHHHHHHHH you guys are killing me! i want a hornet soooooo bad but my wife says no! ha they are perty hard to find around here and the ones i found online they want a chunk of change for! I will get one some day!

im assuming the hornet has alot better knock down power than a magnum?

You would love the Hornet! It's the neatest little rifle I own. Mine is a Ruger 77/22 with the rotary clip. Stainless/laminate so it's maintenance free. Everyone says the Rugers don't shoot good but I've never had that problem with mine! Mine probably has more kills than any other gun I own. Great for critter control around the farm and I've taken many coyotes and a couple fox. It amazes me how it can just drop em dead in their tracks but can't ever tell where you hit them until you really investigate them! Great calling rifle IMO! Don't have to worry quite so much about it traveling so far when hunting pastures and farms around livestock. I would recommend getting one as soon as you can!

You only hear the Rugers won't shoot on the internet!!!I have a Ruger 77/22 hornet also a great shooter never had any kind of problem with it and yes you would love the Hornet great round.

I use a hornet in "urban" areas to hunt coyotes. It will drop them easily at 150+yds. and dosen't make the people in surrounding houses mad! Ron

I've never shot a 22 mag in order to give a comparison, but I do know mine has no recoil with factory loads. I just got myself set up for reloading and my Hornet will be the first I load for since I shoot it more than any other. Can't wait to really dial it in with hand loads! My wife is a pretty good shot with it also. She doesn't want anything to do with my larger caliber rifles!

Between the two, I prefer a 22 Magnum. Something to be said for cheap, pre-loaded ammo for light duty, close in predator thumping.

If I choose to jump up "ballisticly", I'll take a .221 Fireball over the Hornet every time. Better case design (read, more durable), only digests 3 gr. more powder w/40's, is more accurate, provides about 300 more feet per second and is only slightly louder.............A handloader could make an argument for the K-version though!

I've done the 22 Hornet thing but with the advent of factory Fireball brass, I see no need to punish myself............................

I have a contender pistol with a hornet barrel, LOTS of fun with that bugger, has taken a jack or two and a couple of prairie dogs.

My other hornet is an H&R handi, I LOVE that sucker, had the barrel cut down to 16.5" switched to a collapsable stock, now its a super Handi rifle. Thing is pretty dang accurate as well with the heavier Privi ammo.

Good luck, they are just a fun shooter to have!
and a good way to get Kids into the "BIG BOY" rifles.

Lil Gun & MW 34gr HP

that is one of the most beautiful guns i have ever seen! the wood looks so pretty and topped off with that fine scope

Lon if you have a Gun Store nearby you could ask them if you could order one! When I want a Gun and GM,Dicks and other big box stores are so high I just call my local dealer and order it through them. Alot cheaper that way!

X2; my experience and opinion exactly. However, since you asked about the Hornet and don't have much $ to spend at this time, the NEF Handi-rifle might be the way to go, but you might want to see if the factory will lighten the trigger; they used to do it for free, but if they still do it'll probably cost something. But, if you're gonna spend almost $300 with tax, scope rail etc. for that, you might as well spend another 150 and get one of the new Savage 25's with a good trigger and a magazine...see how things tend to escalate when you're buying Hornets? You might look around and find a used or closeout Savage Model 40 for a good price.

No no no, get the CZ. There is a reason there are so many internet posts, about poor Ruger accuracy. Whether they want to admit it or not. Mine does 2 1/2" at 100 yds on it's best day.
