Good 1911 holster

Folks, I'm in need of a good sturdy belt-mounted holster for my 1911 (Para P14). I currently have a Bianchi Accumold that I like, but it's a paddle model. I want one similar, meaning nylon, closed muzzle, relatively full containment, and some kind of decent retention; that slides onto or otherwise securely attaches to a belt. I'm considering another Bianchi, but they're 50 bucks, so I thought I'd see if you fellows had any tips. Thanks!

I'm going the other way, Troy...

I'm getting a custon rig made in the similar style of this Kirkpatrick rig.

The rig I'm getting looks simlilar, but natural color & tooled oakleaves and acorns 100%, but is only costing me $200 vs the $600 for this rig. )I'm not going for the shiny buckles though...Antique sterling is much more tasteful.

While you are looking on that site, you might check out their other holsters. You may find one you like.

Hey DesertRam, I was doing OK until I read "nylon". I have several 1911 holsters from Bianchi, Dillon and Mernickle that I really like and fit your criteria excluding the "nylon" requirement.

Hey Barry, you have good taste. Love that Kirkpatrick stuff.

Here is a new El Paso Saddelry rig for my Ruger 44SP Flattop.

Not cheap, but didn't break the bank.

Ahh,com'on Barry, that Lone Star buckle is the bomb!

Both outfits have nice stuff, for sure! Just not necessarily what I'm looking for at this point. This won't be a daily carry holster, just something to use to pack around calling and messing around. I need something reasonably priced and sturdy that'll hold relatively tight to the body, will hold up to dust and crap (you guys know NM), and won't be a PITA (or hip as the case may be) sitting in the truck. I've won half the battle with a good belt (Wilderness Instructor), now just need a sturdy holster to go with.

I've been looking around and that Bianchi seems like the best bet, AND it's made here, which I like.

Nylon's not all bad. I like good leather as much as the next guy, but for what I intend to do with it, I think I'm better served by a synthentic. If Blackhawk made a SERPA with closed muzzle, I'd probably just do that.

My old P14's too beat up and ugly to sit in fine leather anyway!

Quote:with closed muzzle,
I have to ask...Why a closed muzzle???

IMHO, and from experience, you are generally asking for trouble with one as it will be prone to collecting all kinds of debris and moisture...Not really good for your weapon...or your safety if the debris that does collect isn't noticed and you shove the handgun into it and then try to fire it...

Leaving it open allows almost anything to fall on through... If you are worried about protection of the muzzle, use a holster that is about 1/4" longer than the barrel..

I've spent too many days out in the rain and snow as an officer and seen what the closed holsters can do to a firearm...

not nylon , , ,

The turn around time is very reasonable and so are the prices. I have the Canute model for my Springfield GI Champion and my dad has one for his Glock 27 and they are top shelf holsters. Give his stuff a look-see and see what you think.
