Good 223 Brass?

Never owned a 223 before but have an AR coming. I have used winchester for every cartridge I have. I see alot of guys using different 223 brass as there is a lot of makers. Have heard winchester sold their brass out to another manufacturer. Is LC good brass? Any info appreciated.
 
I use Lake City (New) good brass as far as I can tell. I load it just the same as I do Winchester. Never had a problem with it yet.

Since you full length resize for the AR. Any brand will do. LC is good stuff but be advised you will need to swage the primer pocket prior to use. Not a big deal.

Lake City is good, but so are others, Remington, Winchester, are still good. In .223 loads for hunting or plinking, just about any .233-5.56 brass will do.

It is not essential to swag the pockets.

If it is once fired and has staked primers it sure the heck does.

New unprimed brass = NO. Or unstaked primers = NO

If it's not essential to swag the pockets, then please tell me how to get the primer in? Cause I can't get it in if I don't swag the pocket.
 
Just ream the crimp lip off, this works good for me:

LC brass is good stuff. I also have some good speer brass that was crimped on the pocket. Full sized the brass, decrimped the pocket and cleaned and trimmed. For decrimping stopped at the local hardware store, picked up a 3/4" counterbore, light pressure and slow speed in a drill press and walla.....

A minor note, it is "swage", not "swag"...

... but you can remove the crimp lip by cutting it off, with the tool shown above, or a regular 45° chamfer cutter.

Unfortunately I do not see any LC 223 brass listed there any longer. I have heard that the Defense Dept quit selling once fired brass to wholesalers. This could be why the supply of LC brass has dried up.

FWIW I took 1700 rds to Wyoming for a PD shoot and had a ball.
