good binocs for $500

Also Scheels has a pair of Scheels outfitters Dakota hunter series binoculars 10 x 42 on sale are they a good binoc?

Nikon Monarch 7 and Vortex Viper HD are the best IMO in that price range with glass quality and clarity going to the Nikon and warranty going to the vortex.

What are you using them For?

If you are sitting on top of hills glassing for game.. Well that is differnt than a pair that you are planning on mostly hunting predators..
I have 8 power Vortex and love them.. Very clearn and i scan around every stand before i sand up. I choose 8's because it had a better field of view than the 10's IMO, and I can see coyotes over a mile just fine with them. I am looking for 500yrds or less and in the shadows to see if there is a bobcat sitting and watching me.
I can spot ELk way off without an issue, and don't need bino's for that.

So it comes back to what you are going to do, and how big do you need for your purpose. I went with the smaller, lighter ones that i will wear all day.
but Vortex over anything else.

Leupold Cascades or Acadia BX-2 are what Ive been using for years Both have been more than perfect in all types of inclimate weather out here. Sure you can spend more also.
I ran the cascades side by side w/vortex vipers/steiners/leica & other top brand binos and "to my eyes" they were better than those by a tad w/the vortex the next best.

Right now I have the Nikon action ex 10x50.
Would like something a little lighter weight and better in low light.
