Good deer load for 22-250?

Your tsx choice should serve you well. The 250 is fully capable for deer so long as you place your shot and don't take a marginal angle. I have shot several with mine. It is usually what I use to fill doe tags because you get less meat damage than with larger calibers. Sure there are bigger guns to shoot deer with, but I am not going to go short every one with a 50 cal encore just because I can. Haters gonna hate, right?

I have used many projectiles in the 22-250 for deer. My go to round for them now is the Nosler 60 grain partition. Shot deer from 50 yards to over 400 with same results. Neck shots just flop. Shots to boiler room results in a 20 yard scamper and flop.
My favorite round was the now discontinued Nosler bullet in picture under my user name.

Couldn't have said it any better. I prefer 60gr Sierra hp but have used others with same results. blood trail has not been necessary.
 
Never worried about blood trails. When I shoot does they usually only go about 10 yards and die. Shot placement, shot placement, shot placement! I am shooting a Sierra bullet btw.
 
Have not tried the TSX but the 75 AMAX has worked very well for me but you would need a 9 or faster twist. I am planning to try 65 gr sierra gameking. The 60 gr nosler partition would be another good choice. BTW I am shooting these in a 223 so I don't think you would have any problem with a 22-250. Best of luck.

That little Partition has always shot well for me out 1-14 twist 22-250's and performance has always been spot on, deep to full penetration and the bullets I have recovered have been text book mushroom. Longest shot was 290yds. Also, FMJ SHOULD NEVER BE USED FOR DEER! Personally, I wouldn't use a FMJ on any animal. We as hunters have a responsibility to make quick and humane kills, FMJ's won't do it consistently on anything except very small animals, then there the ricochet's to worry about. Just my 2cents.
 
Gonna see what happens on Saturday mornin. Got my loads with the 53gr tsx and 34 gr of varget. 5 shots from 100 yards was bout 1.5-2 inch group( I'm not the best shot by the way) but my coyote loads are way tighter groupings. But hey 1.5-2 inch group with 5 shots at 100 yards for deer load I'm happy with it
 
Just read 2 reports of 50gr TSXs shooting some nice bucks both at 220+ yds.

One with a 222, the other a 223AI.

I went from a 308 to a 243 to a 223 for deer but when I went to the 223 I shot a young ( 80-100 lbs ) doe at about 50 yds. to see how it would preform with a 75 gr AMAX. I got a pass thru and a great blood trail, it ran 40 yds. I think that that a 223 in the right hands is fine but WOULD NOT recommend one to an inexperienced hunter or shooter. Bullet selection is as important as the cal. I have shot several more since that doe and none have gone more than 50 yds. longest shot was 200 yds.
 
I have killed many deer with a 22 250 using nosler 50,55 gr BT . Killed some nice bucks. I am trying Sierra 55 gr gameking right now I bought 2000 2nds. I have a TC venture and a tikka t3 lite 22 250s. I am going to sell the tikka because of the 1@14 . Wish it was a 1@10. It has less than 40 RDS down it. The BT will blow the lungs and heart up. And in my AR I have used 55 gr and 60 gr BT too but move up to a 65 gr gameking. This guy at work started deer hunting he shoot a few deer never got them. He would find them by the buzzards . I asked what bullet are u shooting he said the cheapest ones I can find. I said r u using fmj he said yes why. I said that's why your not finding your deer goto a lead bullet. He did and dropped the next deer he shot. He said the bullets does make a differents.If the g&f would have caught him using fmj he would have got a big ticket that's a no no here.
