Just got my new toy, H&R tamer, .410. its a sweet little gun, 19" barrel, holds 4 shells in the stock, went out in the woods and blasted a bunny with it while i was walking back to an area to throw a few slugs through it to see how they shot. slugs patterned pretty good, i shot 5, all hit within a 4" area at 25 yards. i want to get a couple of the 3" buckshot shells but they are impossible to find in stores. I read somewhere that the millitary was using .410's with buckshot when clearing houses cause they could easily shoot them around door ways (no look) because of the reduced recoil.

anyways heres a couple pics i just took after i cleaned it

I have one of these too. Very handy and fun. Taken a few birds and rabbits with it. I cut off the pistol grip because I found it awkward to get my thumb up to the hammer and then re-position for the shot. It's much quicker handling now.

Nice looking weapon man gotta love a 410 was what i learned to hunt with 20yrs ago lol still got mine a single shot wood stock h&r good little gun ...sniper

yeah im 23, we have about 6 other guns in the house but none that were "mine" so I wanted something to hunt small game with, and be small/light weight for camping/hiking. This is perfect, if i take the barrel off it fits nicely in a backpack, with a sling you don't even feel it hanging on your shoulder.

they have 20 gauge ones too, but for what im doin the .410 is plenty.

that is a pretty sweet little set up. Can you interchange the barrels on it for a 20? What are they worth if I can ask?

they sell a 20 gauge version gander mountain has it http://www.gandermountain.com/modperl/pr...D5&merchID=4006

they also have the rossi tuffy, which only comes in .410 and only weighs 3 lbs.

Om sure you could send it to H&R and have them fit the 20 gauge barrel if you would like. They sell this stock and forend for any of their single shot shot guns, its like 60 bucks for the pair.

This gun ran me out the door $140ish, I got a discount cause it was a display model (only one they had left and no plans to reorder soon).

The price on the tag was $179.99.

Im happy with it, I wish it would warm up a bit so i could stand being out in the woods for longer than like an hour at a time.

Nope the Military is still using 12 gauge, most often times, a "MilSpec" Remington 870. Loaded with '00' buck. As for the no look thing. Thats hard to believe. You have NO way of knowing what you are shooting at. IE Women, Children...

ah yeah i found where I read it, it was just a comment on a forum type thing

Quote:I have the 2.5″ and the 3″ Taurus Judges and I think they are great. I had to wait 2 months to get the 3″ version because they are so popular. The Military has taken to using 3″ 000 .410 in auto shotguns for clearing rooms. You don’t have the Hi-velocity .223 rounds ricochets and the .410 can be held out and fired around a corner unlike the 12 gauge. This is why you won’t find a single box for sale anywhere and if you do, let me know where.

so more than likely that is false. i figured it was a good explination as to why I can't find the .410 000 buck anywhere.

well its to cold for deer hunting/coyote calling around here (i can't stand to sit still in this cold) so ill be bunny busting tomorrow. I guess being unemployed does have its upsides.

ah this is a great rabbit gun, so easy to bring through the thick crap. Literally blew the face off of a bunny today. #4 is too much haha.

we are moving away from the remington, and have phased most of them out for the benelli M4 super 90 semi auto 12 ga with collapsible stock. i have never seen nor heard of anyone using the 410 in combat.

gotcha, well that settles that. Any particular reason you are giving up on the remmington stuff?
