Got my first Centerfire Rifle

I was going to go with a Tikka Superlite, but after spending more on a vehicle than I expected (worth it) I needed something a bit more affordable.

Ended up finding a Howa 1500 in .223 20"heavy barrel with 1:9 twist, brand new in box for $320. Swooped that up and put my crossfire II on it.

Really like the way it looks and feels. Excited to take her out and get dialed in and find out what ammo combo works best. Reloading has always looked fun and interesting to me, I know it's a dark path that entices you with low cost per round and ends with you shooting more, I think I'll take my chances... eventually.

That's a pretty good rifle from what I've heard. I came pretty close to buying that model myself for about $375 and then the price jumped up to over $500. I think you got a really good deal.

Fine choice, shoot some and then make up your mind on reloading.

Really depends on how much time you have and how you value that time. Today's factory rounds are pretty good. In the end you get to shoot more for the money spent, but component prices have risen while factory stuff has gotten better. Which drives the bottom line closer.

You know, I think you're right. It get's so bad that it becomes good!

Good smart choice! Keep it simple and fun. Save your brass and you can start reloading later. You picked a great combo & caliber. Have fun!
