Got the new Nikon M223 rifle scope

I finally got the Nikon M223 rifle scope yesterday and immediately got it mounted up on my AR using the Nikon M223 20moa scope mount. Headed out to the range this morning and had it hitting center at 100 in about 12 shots. I was using Winchester Ballistic Silvertips since this is what Nikon told me they used while building the scope. I am very pleased with the scope. The optics are very clear, and I especially like the ballistic chart inside. They made the crosshairs a little smaller than there usual scopes, and the chart is set up to hit every fifty yards. I am going to take it out next week and get some footage of some long range shots. Here are ths specs on the scope. I am excited to get it out and smoke some dogs at the 5-600 yard range. David

Not knocking your scope. But exposed target turrets with a drop compensating reticle?? Why?? Both do the same thing?? Tom.

Nikon offers two different reticles, but use the same knobs for both scopes. The other one you sight in at 100 yards, and then you can dial your yardage out to 600 yards. Is this what you are asking? I just like the BDC better for varmint hunting so I can get on the target quicker. David

Thanks and keep us posted..I enjoyed the pictures, the Desert is the only thing I miss from my 9 years spent in AZ.Besides maybe a girl..

Don't worry, the people who buy them don't know how to spin a turret anyway.....

Sorry. It's true though.

If the BDC was actually worth a darn(precise enough), and didn't need tweaking in with turrets, well, you know the rest........

On the other hand, anybody who knows how to spin turrets, don't need the BDC. It's just a target- covering, complicated mess that gets in the way......

Just my opinion.........

So then pretty much friends don't let friends drive a-bolts or BDC scopes?

Do you like Mil dots then 2muchgun?

P.S.
The first part is a joke.

And it certainly isn't a marketing gimmick aimed at those who couldn't shoot their way out of a pup-tent promising them that it will allow them make hits on critters at yardages that they are non-proficient at.

Or people incapable of relegating their rifle scope dicussions to the "optics" forum......

Mil-dots are fine, for ranging stuff, if that's how you want to do it. I prefer a rangefinder, a duplex reticle, and target turrets. Aim dead on, shoot, kill......

Your animals must be already be stuffed. In the real world my animals move quickly and constantly.
Most peeple can't afford $5000 of equipment to shoot a rabbit to eat

I hate to take sides on this, so I'll just say I kinda have to agree with 2much on this. Turrets and a b-plex is just to much going on for me.
A buddy just ordered a new Loopy with the varmint reticle and M-1 turrets???????

It looks like you've got a nice set-up there David! I'm betting that there are a few guys here who would like to hear how well the scope does in the field so keep us posted.
