Gotta love the Gipper!

I really liked Reagan!

Iran and Libya were not afraid of Jimmy Carter at all.

Overview of the Reagan Attack on Libya

On April 15, 1986, the United States conducted air strikes against Libya, known as Operation El Dorado Canyon. This military action was a response to the bombing of a West Berlin discotheque on April 5, which killed two people and injured over 200, with U.S. intelligence linking the attack to Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi.

Key Details of the Attack

Objectives and Execution

  • Targets: The strikes aimed at military barracks, a training center for sabotage operations, and a military airfield in Tripoli and Benghazi.
  • Duration: The bombing lasted approximately 12 minutes, during which over 60 tons of munitions were dropped.
  • Aircraft Involved: Around 100 U.S. Navy and Air Force planes participated, launching from aircraft carriers and bases in England.

Casualties and Damage

  • Libyan Casualties: Reports indicated about 45 military personnel killed, along with civilian casualties, including claims of a child allegedly being Gaddafi's daughter.
  • U.S. Losses: One U.S. F-111 aircraft was shot down, resulting in the deaths of two crew members.

Aftermath and Reactions

Following the attack, Gaddafi condemned the U.S. actions, claiming that reconciliation was impossible while Reagan was in power. He described the U.S. as arrogant and accused it of wanting to dominate global affairs. The strikes did not significantly alter Libya's stance or Gaddafi's leadership, and tensions between the U.S. and Libya continued in the following years.

They just shut the doors for 41 days and I sure didn't miss em.
Nor did I! However, there was a heavy toll paid by the folks that continued to work without pay to keep things going.

But the bigger issue apparently was the millions and millions of people that refuse to help themselves and NEED the free funds to survive in this terrible country. It just isn’t fair. No SNAP. No money for blue hair dye. Is everyone supposed to get a job and help themselves for heaven’s sakes? Many well deserving illegals are questioning why they ever came here in the first place. It’s just barbaric.

No SNAP. No money for blue hair dye.
Funny now that is no longer the battle cry...
Now it's "fixing" AHCA aka "Obama Care" That when passed had NO Republican vote nor support. The Dem's I guess feel they don't have the ability to fix or balance the tax payer burden so they have to lay it at the Republican's feet to fix.

Socialist always want to play in the sun, and have other's slave, toil, to serve them. While transferring all debts, and accountability to the "lower" class. They are a point in case for what The Gipper said... "Government is the problem".

Yeah I miss Ronnie, even though at heart he was a true Democrat. We need more of that in our elected members, the ability and will power to stand for what they believe in. He switch to Republican after his party "left" him. Versus what we have today, strict adherence to the party line.
