GPS Software

I have a Magellan 315 GPS on order. Was wondering what software or accessories might be useful for it. It will be used out west when I venture away from camp and also when fishing lakes here. Not really interested in any highway information or cities and towns.

Whipstick:

Here's some links to GPS software, tutorials and accessories. I personally like the Garmin units and have never had any experience with Magellans. But there is software and videos available to help you understand the unit.

Good Luck!

I've used my Maptech software for about a year now. I'm extremely pleased with it. You can print the usual topo maps with it and it's also seamless. This means that if you decide to print a map where four quads come togehter, you won't need 4 maps, just the one map with the area that you want. There are also other featues too. Maptech gives you access to their map database once you purchase their product. You can then print maps, etc. for anywhere that you desire. The program also has a line of sight tool, elevation tool, plus lots more. It also does the usual upload/download of waypoints, 3D maps, plus other functions. MI VHNTR

Hey whipstick, I am a professional surveyor here in NH and can tell you for the money, the Magellan 315 is the BEST. I have one and have tested it on benchmarks and come within 6 inches elevation. For hunting and woods use, this unit is GREAT, you will not be disappointed. I use mine exclusively with the "Wildflowers" program. Delorme offers some great software also. I have taken readings with mine in the field and plotted my locals on my topo map and they are dead on. All the guys I work with have GPS units of all sorts of makes and models, but your 315 will serve you well. Any questions in the future feel free to post, richie
