Grand Junction CO. and Pueblo CO.

I am a lifetime resident of Grand junction and the hunting opprotunities are endless here on the western slope. In 1 hour you can be at 10,000 ft. on the largest flat top mountain in the world the Grand Mesa. World class mule deer and elk, 100 fishable lakes as well. As for the predator hunting, glade park, the bookcliffs, rabbit valley and the desert between Grand Junction and Delta offer plenty of opprotunities as the jack rabbit population is plentiful. I will say that the oil and gas industry has provided a bountiful economy but...the population has in creased quite a bit. Still, it is Colorado and the outdoors and all that inhabit it is our backyard. Those of us who live here are very lucky and if the outdoors is your thing you should really check it out. I thank god every day that this is my home. Spoiled is putting it mildly!!!

I dont live in grandjunction but I have worked in oil fields around the grand mesa rifle and meeker gmazza is right its a sportsmans paradise

I have not lived in either area but have hunted on the West slope for 3 deer seasons. Lots of deer. I remember having to slam on my brakes at 10pm one evening in the city limits of Rifle because a forkhorn buck darted across the street. That was in the city limits.

I agree with the earlier post about Utah. It is just over the border from GJ and has lots of wide open space with lots of public land. I have seen some good bucks just driving the I70 where it goes through the Fishlake Natl Forest. If I lived in GJ, I would be hunting in both states every year.
