Heres one I got in deleware county.I had another one but someone decided to fill it with buckshot before I got to my traps.I called this one in.The only 2 I have ever seen.Everything else is reds,I was very surprised about these greys.
I hunt coyote in Coshocton county. So far my only success has been one Grey fox. I'll try to get a picture posted as soon as I can...From the sound of the woods where I hunt I'd have to say it seems like there are alot of Grey fox out there.....Trevor
mattf,
I'm in Allen county, the next county east of Van Wert and Grey Fox are plentiful here, too. Greys are fairly simple to call...a Grey Fox pup distress tape, red lensed light and a 12ga. shotgun with some 2 3/4" BBs(turkey choke).
Quite often they'll run right past you because they're coming in so fast.
A hunting buddy of mine has had them run under his pick-up, because he had the caller sitting on the hood of his truck.
Red Foxes are getting scarce around here, because they tend to run from coyotes and a coyote can run a Red down. Greys won't fool around when a coyote chases them...they'll run down a groundhog hole.
Good hunting, Bowhunter57

Guns cause crime, like silverware causes Rosie O'Donnell to be fat.
Maybe that is why we don't have any Greys, the coyotes have eaten nearly all our groundhogs and they (the greys) don't have any place to hide. Truthfully, the last time I remember seeing one was in the headlights about 30 years ago.
I hunt the strip mine land of ohio Power, and most of Guernsey County. I average about 6-7 grey Fox to every 3-4 Red Fox called in . I shot a Grey at 5 steps last year(3" BB's full choke) the pattern was only 2" wide right between the ears.
